Double steps for DIY sticks are here!

I've scoured for a few hours and LW was the only place that had them in stock. I wonder if you could cost effectively stamp/bend 6061 angle.

Drill press does work better - any friends with a drill press? I wouldn't go out and buy one though. Just mark and drill from both sides instead of drilling all the way through and you'll be fine. Send me pics when you're done with them - want to fill my online gallery up!

I can get ahold of one pretty easy. I’d rather do it right than rush and make a mistake with a hand drill. I’ll send pics when complete. Planning on a camo paint job once the assembly is done.

Lot of time and tinkering go into making a set of standoffs. It takes several versions to get it just the way you want.

Thanks guys! Remember the new steps are available online now at https://DoubleSteps.com

Had lunch with my machinist friend and his family after church today. Got a few things in the works including aluminum ameristeps, tree brackets, platform posts, etc. He’s making some new fixtures so he can crank the steps out faster now too.
DanO , I hope you get these photos

Would love to see your version of the brackets :) Have a 2' length of 6061 and 2 steps.

This is where I harvested the aluminum in the pics above if y'all are curious why there is a random hole in the middle.

How much do the sticks weigh that have 2 of the double steps and the original single step in the middle?

In other words, how much weight does 2 double steps add?

I don't have any Lone Wolfs to weigh, but if you have a single step you could weigh it and figure out the difference. The doublesteps weigh 3.5oz each.

I did some figuring as well.

8 standoff’s - $80
8 double steps - $80
2 sticks of aluminum $40
DIY - priceless, that is unless your wife finds out, then it’s very costly. Haha

If you’re looking to save some cash, a set of api huntn sticks is $90, which gets you 6 standoffs, 9 double steps, accompanying fasteners, and 3 36” sticks of aluminum

I wouldnt mind if they were sandblasted. I think I would actually prefer it. I just place my order for 6 steps today as well.

I could careless either way.

I believe I ordered some of the first batch steps that were smooth. I have yet to paint them but my plan is to acid wash them much like you do an aluminum boat before painting. I know in the aluminum boat world this makes all the difference, might be worth trying for those that have a smooth finish steps.

Right on---or use a GOOD aluminum self etching primer after thoroughly degreasing...

Thanks for making these. They are awesome. Wrapped and ready to go mine are 1lb 14 oz.

Just placed an order for 8 more steps and sent you a PM.
I really think these steps are a game changer, for me.
