I've scoured for a few hours and LW was the only place that had them in stock. I wonder if you could cost effectively stamp/bend 6061 angle.
Drill press does work better - any friends with a drill press? I wouldn't go out and buy one though. Just mark and drill from both sides instead of drilling all the way through and you'll be fine. Send me pics when you're done with them - want to fill my online gallery up!
DanO , I hope you get these photosThanks guys! Remember the new steps are available online now at https://DoubleSteps.com

Had lunch with my machinist friend and his family after church today. Got a few things in the works including aluminum ameristeps, tree brackets, platform posts, etc. He’s making some new fixtures so he can crank the steps out faster now too.
How much do the sticks weigh that have 2 of the double steps and the original single step in the middle?
In other words, how much weight does 2 double steps add?

I did some figuring as well.
8 standoff’s - $80
8 double steps - $80
2 sticks of aluminum $40
DIY - priceless, that is unless your wife finds out, then it’s very costly. Haha

Right on---or use a GOOD aluminum self etching primer after thoroughly degreasing...I could careless either way.
I believe I ordered some of the first batch steps that were smooth. I have yet to paint them but my plan is to acid wash them much like you do an aluminum boat before painting. I know in the aluminum boat world this makes all the difference, might be worth trying for those that have a smooth finish steps.
Sending PM.You still doing these? I'd like 8 also. Sorry for the late reply, new guy to the forum! Thanks
