Keep us updated!Live from the saddle where I’m trying to convince myself to be patient after putting an arrow in a solid 8. Shot was forward. Definitely got front side shoulder. He’s either dead with a heart shot or I need to go finish him off.

I'm not seeing the "S" cut of a single bevel.....lol
Congrats
Great story, awesome hunt, and you did everything absolutely perfect, with a super nice buck to show for it! Job well done!Iron will double bevel. Set up on a trail coming back from food to bedding. Was pretty sure a group of bucks liked to use this trail but it was my first hunt there. Got up early as crap and made the half mile walk. Was to my tree a little after 5. Took my time trying to be super quiet climbing up. Got settled and the sun started to rise. Thermals were being super weird and the wind wasn’t doing what it was supposed to. He came in around 6:45-6:50 exactly where I thought he would. Came straight to the base of the tree before walking down the hill behind me. I didn’t think I was ever going to get a shot and had been holding for about a minute at my 6:00 position. Finally let down and he of course turned broadside. Drew back and stopped him at the same time. Settle the pin, checked the bubble, checked the pin again and let her eat. Impact sounded like I was busting concrete and the arrow was in him as he ran off. Initially I thought it was a bit forward and a bit low but the longer I sat the more I thought the height was perfect. I was worried I was too far forward though but he ran off absolutely destroying brush and looked to be bulldozing along down through the bottom. I thought I had heard a crash but I couldn’t see and then I thought I heard more movement after the crash. Waited an hour and decided to get down. Of course I got down and couldn’t get my rappel rope down lol so back up I went. Finally gathered my things and it was about 9am. Walked to impact, looked for blood, looked downhill and saw belly. Couldn’t believe it. Absolutely drilled him. The single best thing I’ve ever done for my hunting and confidence is build my own arrows. The vital V is where it’s at. I did not hit the front shoulder but went through the beefiest part of the offside shoulder. That leg was jelly. I got near side lung, clipped the heart, and all kinds of goodies in between. You didn’t need a blood trail because there was just a mowed down path but the blood trail was fantastic. Thrilled with this hunt and the shot.

Great work @hokiehunter! Nice buck!! What's the deal with that other buck you were trying to get last season???
Good luck out there! Stick one!!!Let the grind begin, day number #1 for me of over a 60 day long season, check out the runway just in front of me along that small feeder brook. I have low expectations, I need some decent bone for my area to shoot tonight, I have a good friend about 300 yards set up for success and he’s trying for his first bow kill tonight!!
