Lone Wolf Custom Gear Kuhnert Ambush Bent bolt/Fix

Skyjacker-I have those as well and I think they’re great-I will order another one from DanO just for this.

I just ordered one. Does it come with bolt as well as button. And you think I will get it in the next day or two. If I remember when I ordered kydex clips they came quick.
Can someone send me the measurement for the depth of the K Ambush post? Thanks.
Oh Dan O himself. I ordered a button just now a Mississippi hangtime shirt. Will pay extra for faster shipping if need be. Can hit fastenal up if need a longer bolt. I would rather not drill my stand and put the nut in the original spot.

I’m just surprised no one is screaming recall yet. It looks good with exception to the whole bent bolt ordeal.

Let us know how it holds up. I really think a beast button or alumibutton with grade 8 bolt is going to be strong enough.
A grade 8 bolt should be fine. Having an aluminum button or beast button to tighten up against will help spread the load on the bolt also.

Well, that's comforting. I would email LWCG with pictures. I planned on replacing that elevator bolt with DanO's AlumiButton. Which is in my opinion the best button on the market. Lightweight, strong, made out of aluminum, hex bolt recesses into the button and does not snag on daisy chains, and just looks bad ass.

The problem is not the versa button the problem is the low grade bolt replacing the versa button with Dan-O aluminum one will not fix the problem he needs to replace the low grade bolt with a grade 8 bolt!

I don't use stainless steel or grade 5 bolts. Too many cases of bending. I also don't like the design of the LWCG buttons. So for me, an AlumiButton and a grade 8 bolt is what I would use even if the bolt didn't bend.

I will get that HangTime Shirt out to you tomorrow! The shirt will come separate from what ever else you ordered for Doublesteps.com Thanks for the support

Skyjacker:

I understand where you are coming from with upgrading bolts-But take a look at the pic. That small recess that contains the nut is all the support that bolt gets. Barely 1/4”. That’s way too much tension no matter what you use. If the bolt doesn’t bend or fail I would worry about the post hole wallowing out. If you remember the old Lone Wolf sticks how the steps would deform and eventually the step would slant further downward. Overtime with all that pressure on one bolt and small portion of the step allowed for that to happen-That’s why LWCG made the step climb position rest on a larger surface area to prevent that. If you look at the pic-the front part of the post is all that is supporting that weight. I feel they should have imbedded that bolt further into the post like they did their adjustment screw?!

All the bolts from DoubleSteps are Grade 8 or better now.

The bolt is the result of a problem. The teeth look to be realy sharp and will grip very well and the way the platform is made one side can grip better than the other causing more pressure on one side of the strap than the other. More caution when camming over will have to be taken also even with a new bolt.

This makes me laugh. $300 and it needs modification out of the box in order to not become a paper weight. Couple that with completely misadvertised weights on the sticks (from what I hear anyway). :tearsofjoy:

I wonder if you can just replace it with a grade 8 flange bolt and call it a day?

Oh ok. The button what I need buy Saturday at the lastest.
If Dan has them in stock you will have it in time, but if you want send him an email to make sure. He is in Mich and I am in NY . It is his business, i sell on consignment through his site. So basically I have no control on his end, just control the HT end of it.

I git a shipping notification this mourning.

A recall would be necessary if it were something not easily fixed.. fortunately, I can fit a $3 bolt pretty easily. Repairing a cast platform that broke... not so much.
