MR PopUp or Eberlestock MainFrame? Or budget option?

The pop up 38 was a sweet little pack that I probably should have kept. The layout takes some getting use to but it does have nice features. I didn’t like how floppy the bag was. And if you have anything in the lid it makes getting into the bag a PITA, especially if your posts are up at all. I did get to try it out with a ton of weight but it didn’t seem to fit my hips well with even with about 20-30 lbs. For me, the Eber. M1 Frame fit like a glove. And I wanted so bad not to like that pack. I got it used and it’s beat up pretty bad lol. I’m going to be sure to to put some weight in my new Kuiu Pro pack when it comes in. If it doesn’t feel as nice as the m1 then I may have no choice but to stay with it. I really think packs are like saddles now wrt how they fit. You can buy one that is the right size, but if it doesn’t ride well, you’re gonna hate it packing a deer out. If you’re not planning on packing deer out, I see no reason to choose one pack over the other other than your own wants, likes and dislikes, on packing, pockets, and strap features. Every pack I have owned will carry my winter clothes and the few items I hunt with.

Some features I liked more than others but how they carry a deer is what I’ve been looking at the most. It’s been a minute I know you ended up getting a MR but was was the intent of your pack purchase? What did you want it for, and to do? @HuumanCreed your original post said for hauling deer. If you haven’t put a bunch of weight (60 lbs at least) and walked a mile with your MR PU I would do that and decide if it’s the pack for hauling meat like you originally intended. I highly recommend packing out after a total of one times of doing it! Haha
Told. You. So.

Similar to Kyler I’m wanting one pack that’ll do it all. I’m hoping I’ll like the Kuiu Pro enough that’ll be able to buy a larger bag for backpacking with it as well. I already know I love the size and features of the Venture 2300.

Got a gray or camo one in L or XL you want to sell me? Might still try out the coyote.

Camo in XL. PU28. Lol.

Sorry you bought the 38.

But really, I've got one to sell.

Gave my brother the Kuiu Pro 3600 instead. Really like the 3600.

I’m hoping I like this Kuiu Pro. The build quality seems a good bit better than the Venture and there are small features that are nice. The bag is a little different and obviously the Pro Suspension and the Frame are extremely different, but they seem extremely nice. I only had a few minutes with it but I’m hoping to haul a deer with it this weekend. Ole @enkriss must be about 6’7” because i need to drop the torso length a good bit though hahah

I think ole GCR needs another pop-up personally....
If I get another PU im not sure it’s gonna be a 28. I just don’t think the bag is big enough for winter layers. I know I could put them in the hauler or the compression straps but idk…

Winter layers??? We are southern boys we don't need them winter layers!

They ain’t much but I pack in my pants and jacket for weather less than 40 with wind. And it’s always windy. They’re under armor and they’re kinda bulky.

The Pro is good. Hope you didn't pay what he was asking though.

Even if you did, it's worth it. Still, they had some deep discounts this year and he was in on those.

This time last year, he was practically arguing it's the best bag on earth. It is nice, but I prefer the next larger bag.

He gave me a fair deal. And yea I remember he snagged it on sale. It’s ok I suck at buying and selling. I buy too high and sell too low. I don’t think he used it a whole lot. It’s gonna have to be pretty great for the amount of money it is. A dang pack worth more than more whole hunting set up I have lost my mind.

I liked my Kuiu Pro 3600 (stock) a lot better than the MR28. But, the 28 mates better with the .5. Of course, stock, I didn't like the 28 very much, but changing the belt made a huge difference for me.

The Kuiu Pro suspension is good, and it's a light system overall and I like the pack design ok. For whatever reason my Kifaru system was best at minimizing felt weight on the whole so I'm staying with that, but the Pro 3600 was attractive with certain sets. I'd have kept mine, but my brother borrowed it and was complementary of it which is unusual. So, to him it goes.

Pants and jacket...bulky...3600 gtg.

I got the pro 2300, but the Venture 2300 fit my clothes perfect so I’m hoping thats the case here as well. It does appear the bag is taller than the 2300 which probably means it ate up some of the storage. Im hoping it still pops out enough. Im also hoping im not annoyed by the height of the pack, it may prove to be paint to haul up a tree. I loved the slenderness of the 2300. If this works out I will probably get the next pack size up or two since it will fit on this frame for back packing and camping. It would be nice to have one pack to do it all but that might be a pipe dream.

I need the xtall frame. I had that sucker maxed out. 6’-4”. All torso…lol

I thought you went with the tall frame.

I'm 6'3" and took a chance with the regualr frame and I found it adjusted to me fine. Only the load lifters were not as tall as possible.

Yea it’s the tall, he’s just saying he needed the xtall lol.

It'd be interesting to see an overlay of the frames. I've a long torso and the regular fit nice enough.

I suppose it's very subjective. But it'd still be interesting to see the difference in adjustment.

Compressed, the Kuiu Pro is about as slender as it gets. The more pliable cordura and the narrow frame help it shrink down noticeably skinnier than the Popup when unloaded of bulky items.

I’ve been strapping then to the outside of pack with compression straps until I get to tree, not the prettiest but keeps it out of the shelf
