Out on a Limb solo scout

Yes I have another thread with video up showing how I do it for branchless stems.

It has been a while since I logged on. What happens, I see this and buy another piece of gear for this years season.

I like the solo on small trees but at the end of the day I think I'll just stick with the ROS its more versatile and packs easier.

I have one ordered. Depending on how I like it I may add a second one and use them together in a ring configuration. Weight wise would be a wash with my normal platform but would give better mobility around the tree.

I can't remember where I saw this but one other really good option is to replace your top stick with the scout platform but also mount the double climbing stick step on the tree side of the 1' tube. So there would be a 1" space between the back side of the scout platform and the double step mounted on the tree side of the 1" stick tube.

This wouldn't add much weight at all but would add a decent amount of top foot space for standing straight up parallel with the tree.

I will try it

Well got the shikar mini to do one sticking with and then this mother's day I used the sale and got the 17" stick and had Mark put the scout on the top step. So now I now (or will) have the scout on a shikar, my platform and my mini as my climbing style and platform. That way I can cover the tree with the mini on the left of the platform and the scout on the right side.

Yes in a nutshell. I put a cinched climbing line as high as I can go then set platform at eye level, ascend line srt, pull up platform reset and continue. This is my latest iteration.

This looks like a pretty slick little platform. Is it aluminum or steel?

Has anyone tried this with an amsteel daisy chain yet, just wondering how well it works with that?

I don’t see how a daisy chain would work with its camming method. You could probably using an amsteel whoopie sling or whoopsie daisy though.

Why would you want Amsteel daisy chain to hold your platform? I want my platform as tight as possible and will use a cam strap everytime.

I was the unofficial product tester I had their article one (still do). It is by far the best platform I have ever used. There's "no free lunch" so if you want a platform you can roll out a blanket and have a picnic on this isn't it. If you want the lightest and most packable platform for serious saddle hunters this IS it.
