Rappelling Rope

I also sent EWO an email explaining I forgot to order the Kevlar 5.5 with the first things and they’re putting it tote and removing shipping costs…….pleased to say the least

How do you like the Canyon Tech?

For a multi-purpose SRT rope, I've been looking at this and the Canyon Elite in 100'. That'll allow me to base anchor when over a strong limb and canopy anchor via a trunk girth hitch w/ an alpine butterfly if the branch isn't strong enough.

That's how EWO do and why I buy everything I can from them.
 
The Canyon Tech stiffens up some like most static ropes, but is flexible once it’s bent again, and it has a smoother cover, the Elite is somewhat bumpy. They both have twisted parallel cores, the Elite handles more like a dynamic rope, though.

@phatkaw, a couple more you need, not want, need!

Is the Canyon Tech splice-able?
 
I’m desperately in need of some rope for srt if you guys have any you could spare. Running out of time.

Yes, there are three other ropes in the picture with parallel strands, actually four, the one with the rubber grommet, Bluewater Canyon Line, is hand sewn rather than spliced.

A variation of the Marlowbraid splice, just burying the strands creating enough length, and diameter to expand the cover, to hold it. Their instructions reduce each strand by half and burying the half diameter and then burying the cover about half the length of the core to add more volume. Some ropes are too tight to get the cover in also, so I bury as much of the remaining core as possible for ultimate squeezing. The cover then gets sewn and whipped down on the outside.
 
The more I think about it that 9.5mm Canyon Tech has the characteristics for a really good climbing TETHER.
I'm pretty hard on tethers...
 
Linesman’s would be another good use, smooth cover would be hard to snag, and stiffness makes flipping up the back side of the tree easier.

Is there a supplier that will cut 40' and splice a tight-eye for a quick link in Canyon Tech? I'm currently using Canyon C IV, but I think I'm going to get some Canyon Tech if I can get the eye spliced in! Thanks again @Brocky
 
9mm PMI EZ bend used with Petzl Stop and Phantom with Roperunner presets.
 
I don’t know of anyone who will splice this type of rope, also only saw it available in a minimum of 100’. I was lucky to get a end of spool shorter section on a Labor Day sale.

Funny that I mentioned that now.

I just had to swap out my hitch cord on my favorite tether that I bought about 6 months ago from @Bigterp .
I've put atleast 1,000 climbs on that sucker. It was to the point that my Swabisch would barely adjust either direction...
I took a Duck from a different rope I had that was semi-permantly attached to a Kestrel for an LB and since I mostly one-stick now I rarely use my LB...
The Duck brought back a smiley face to my Oplux. :D
 
I am using mammut alpine 8mm dry rope for my rope. I don't use it during the climb but use it as a tether and to come down. I know it's a half rope but doing the math on the specs there is no way a 6inch fall is going to snap it unless it's already damaged. I got it from moosejaw.com which has excellent service.
