Rappelling Rope

I am using mammut alpine 8mm dry rope for my rope. I don't use it during the climb but use it as a tether and to come down. I know it's a half rope but doing the math on the specs there is no way a 6inch fall is going to snap it unless it's already damaged. I got it from moosejaw.com which has excellent service.

My guess is that it has around a 16kN break strength when comparing it to other 8mm nylon cords. The knot would be the weak spot, but it is only seeing half your weight when wrapped around a tree. The rope to rope contact if a large eye were used might be a concern with that small of a diameter.

No eye is used as I prefer a quick link.
