How many $ for the back half of the bicycle?

Hi my name is Jim and I’m addicted to hunting gear. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to read this thread when I get an urge before I buy, or afterwards when I’m drunk on the box I open when I get home from work. Today I got drunk on a latitude method 2 and next Tuesday I’ll be flying high with a Sitka tool belt. I got 55lbs of meat off a deer that cost me about $4,000 in gear. That’s about $72.72 per pound. I guess that’s not bad for organic meat but I really don’t know the going rate these days with rising inflation.

I love this concept! And here I was getting into hunting to have lots of cheap meat!!!
As my wife says, since I only shot 1 deer last season, "you'd get more meat and be better off diving around looking for fresh roadkill...!"

It's starting to cross my mind more. Buy one buck tag. Drive around In the evening, call cops and get free road kill tags. Takes what's good. Ditch the rest. Out nothing. Just saying.

The way I have it figured… if I don’t buy any more GEAR “hahahahahaaaaaa…” and I get one deer a year, in 40 years my meat will have averaged $1.89lb :)

No more gear purchases until gas prices go down. Or you have to walk from your house to your hunting area to….you know, throughly test out your gear.

Or maybe make another self budgeting and motivational rule all in one: You can’t buy anything until you kill one deer. Then assess your wants and needs over some delicious meal and reward yourself with your new carbon fiber sticks, stand, bow and ultra light saddle setup all for under $4000.

If the bills are paid and wife and kids have food then nobody can tell me anything about where my money goes lol i make it so i spend it (within reason). But this is the first season ive gotten anything new since 2014, ive been using the same bow, same arrows same broadheads and same climber for years and i was reluctant to get set up for saddle but i did and other than replacing my SRT ropes every 4-6 seasons ill use my stuff into the dirt before i buy new. Never understood the type to get a new bow every year, prolly the same guy that gets the new truck every year i cant wrap my head around that concept. Research, find what works and stick with it, why get something new or “better” if what you have works just fine, i know as an American this is a hard concept for people lol

For those who need help resisting new gear..

Repeat after me.
I don't need to purchase the lastest and greatest equipment out there.
The equipment I have is just as good. The new stuff is only different. Not better.
I can resist buying new stuff I don't really need. It will not make me a better hunter.
I will scout instead of trying to figure out how to shave 3 ounces off my set up.

Now. Reflect on the deer you killed previously, and ask your self if that piece of gear you desire would have changed that outcome. See. It didn't..

:) :);)

Attention ADMINS, we definitely have a hacker amongst us. Please suspend @MattMan81 permanently for publishing slanderous and misleading information. We all need much much more gear, trinkets and other costly stuff yet to be determined!

My favorite thing is the people selling the new bows. It has less vibration that the year before. Then the year before that had less vibration than the one before that. So technically speaking a bow should have no vibration whatsoever.

It is the coat of arms of the Province of Ontario. As far as I am concerned, Ontario is the best, and our coat of arms proves it with a stud Moose, stud Buck and a kind of small bear (that I would still be willing to try to make a rug out of).

Yea that is pretty cool! Thanks for sharing. That inspired me to look up my stated cost of arms and I thin ours (Alabama’s) is pretty neat too.
D4F67352-A9A9-4F2E-A950-22A10AE6A1B2.png It pays homage to Spain, France, England, Georgia province, and the Confederate states of America, all of which owned parts of the state before it became whole. The banner reads, “we dare defend our rights”.

it’s cool in a different way, I do really like the Animals depicted on Ontario’s though.

also, sorry to derail the thread.

Some of us are newly addicted and don’t have the self restraint. Hi, my name is Bruce, and I’m an addict. I have a few items that are still in the package. I thought about giving something away on the classified forum and even paying the shipping…can’t figure out why I bought it in the first place for Pete’s sake! Is this rock bottom?
I want to buy another saddle, but I love the one I have. I NEED an ebike so it’s just a matter of time before that happens. I NEED another rope, a longer one. I NEED something else too, I just can’t think of it now. I don’t stop looking for ways to spend money on anything saddle related …….I’m just glad I’m not alone.
