Scentlok or Sitka or First Lite?

For anyone considering Scentlok - which I think is a fine decision - I’m 6’ 160-165… pretty solidly a medium in almost everything… for Scentlok I would’ve been better off to order Large, at least for uppers / jackets so my take it it runs small.

So I dont care about pockets. Is there any reason I can't just get the Sitka Core Lightweight hoody instead of the Fanatic Hoodie? Its 1/2 the price and weight, with the cost of no pockets or built in mitten. Or even the heavy hoodie which would last me until Nov maybe.

Sort of last minute here, but I need some new hunting clothes for this season and would appreciate some input on deciding between Scentlok, Sitka, or First Lite.

It seems like Sitka and First Lite are better quality and have better camo patterns available than Scentlok, but Scentlok obviously provides better Scent Control, but the patterns aren't as good and the quality isn't quite up there with them.

Should I go the Scentlok route to have better Scent Control but not as great camo/quality or with something like Sitka or First Lite for a better pattern and better quality clothing?

Thanks in advance!
Scentlok for me.

I wear my fanatic hoody every hunt outside of early season and I'm thinking that would be every single hunt if I got the lightweight hoody. Don't know why I didn't consider that before.

Here's another option https://www.kingscamo.com/collections/hoodies/products/xkg-covert-hoodie
I sent back the fanatic and kept the Kings. It’s warmer, better fitting(at least for me) just as well made, doesn’t have the annoying built in hand mitts and is 1/2 the price.

I too have this as my early season top. Very comfortable. Kings camo is a great option that I'd be hard pressed to pass if I didn't already have Sitka. The price point for each brand is accurate to the product quality

I'm torn about spending money on hunting clothes. I've been using my old army uniform since day one of hunting and I might be prisoner to 'ignorance is bliss'. Don't get me wrong, I wasted money all over the place getting webbing and ropes, but I just can't swallow paying so much for clothing.
I’ve been there bud, not trying to spend your money for you but I don’t regret upgrading to nicer hunting clothes. I pick up a lot of stuff on eBay and on here used. Haven’t bought any of it new yet.

I’ve owned several Sitka pieces and would agree with this statement on most pieces. However, IMO the fanatic hoody is one of the most overrated pieces in the Sitka line. I really tried hard to convince myself to keep it because I spent so much stinking money on it. I wore it several hunts before getting rid of it. It doesn’t do anything better than the Kings hoody and some things not as well.

First lite base layers are decent…. But I do prefer the minus 33 for merino and the Thlete H1 for heavyweight late season baselayers. Nothing beats them. With that said Sitka has come a long way with baselayers. Their synthetic base layers are very nice and they fixed the fit issues they had. I think their merino still needs some refining though.

I just looked up Minus 33 to see what they have to offer and found out they are less than an hour from my house. Guess I just found a new place to spend my money.

You're right and I agree. Generally I think sitka base layers are not justified in the price as there is nothing special or superior about them. There's zero chance I'm spending $200 on a fanatic hoodie. But I will spend that money on their outer garments all day long.

Ok, if I'm going to drive in. What would be the best initial investment in Sitka? I'm thinking of a Fanatic Hoody that would be used every hunt even in cold weather I'll just add layers from the tons of camo clothes I inherited. But I am having a hard time justifying to wife that I need a $200 pant.
I wear a fanatic Hoodie almost 100% of my hunts. For early season I either use the equinox pant or the Traverse bibs (new this year for me).

Try to find last year's clearance items. If you can get a good deal on thr Fanatic Lite Bibs from last year (now discontjnued) I'd get those.

I like the Core HWT quite a bit actually.

I don't use the Hwt hoody except for skiing, but the Hwt Zip-T is a personal go to. They can be had on sale quite often and at a deep discount if one shops around. I've got a bunch of them.

I don't know if there is anything "special" about them, but I haven't worn a synthetic I've liked better. Could be out there.

I tried some Arcteryx milspec stuff that was highly touted and much prefer the Sitka.

Didn't realize they're being discontinued. I see them for $180 (from legitimate sellers) and am tempted. I hunted in MD during late Mid-Oct and was a touch warm in EV1 Stratus bibs. It's bad timing, but good tip. Thanks.

If I weren't already past my "agreed upon" limit set by my wife this year, I'd snap up a cheap pair of the fanatic lite bibs. They were a tough sell full price but I'd wear them if I could get them on clearance.

I’ve looked into them as well. I just couldn’t find anything about wind resistance
