i want to make mine like a Klemz or predator I'm thinking of making some teeth for it and mounting it to the bottom of the stick

How have you been hanging yours so far? You have that awesome machined post so that would have to be modified to make it work like a Klemz wouldn't it?

I’m using a ratchet strap around the post. It’s the only way I can get it right to the tree where the top won’t pull away. I thinks my tree brackets give way to much to cam over.

I would have to make another post. There wouldn’t be another way to mount it. But I have to admit I’m liking the platform.

It’s just a thought.

Maybe some XOP offset brackets would help and you could just cam it over like I do on mine. It is amazing how well it works when you figure out how to cam them over and have the right pieces to the puzzle. It eliminates any issues with side loading for me too. Next on the list after SquirrelSteps and climbing stick brackets will be platform post brackets. Will be a few weeks away though before I have anything ready.

You could weld the cam to the platform and when you flip the platform down it would cam it and bite into the tree helping with the side pressure as well
Like a hang on bottom! ?

You could use the hollow tube and make it stronger by having a spacer welder in the pin or bolt diameter threw the center of the tube where you drill you’re hole for the platform instead of the solid chunks of aluminum
The cam on the platform would stop the tubing from buckling

The strap I think is a good idea btw it would help you work with a tree that has a lean to get a flat surface at an angled part of the tree if need be

How much interest is there in these platforms? I'm in communication with the manufacturer about getting them wholesale. No pricing yet, but probably not worth it as they sell new for $99 so they are probably still out of our price range at wholesale. The $20 ones on eBay go quick.

I ended up making some brackets from 1.5" aluminum angle like I have seen on Slo Mo's video from his XOP build I believe. Was skeptical but have worked great so far camming the platform over. Had to make sure the platform ended up centered on the post or the top would pull away. Using an amsteel whoopie sling and rubber coated hook off an old ratchet strap so far holding my 230# fat a** just fine.

Scored one of the $20 rests when I had all but given up hope...is replacing a different rest I had picked up. The other is steel and a bit bigger but works great just heavier, will see which I prefer.

Might not be able to make these available as cheaply as I hoped. They indicated wholesale price might be around $50. I think these are a great deal at $20, but not so great if over $50 just for the platform. So, back to the drawing board and I'll have my machinist come up with something after he gets caught up on other stuff.

Need to find a source in China on Alibaba. When I built my cultipacker I could of saved a bunch of money if I was willing to buy a full crate. Lol

Ok, so strapped it to the tree for a quick check. Not sure if I'm sensitive or my scale is wrong, but at 230lbs I can feel it flexing as I shift weight. No chance I'm jumping on it like some of you dare devil's. Lol I need to order a tube as the bar stock piece I had is heavy even after cross drilling. Also not sure I like the single attachment system. Kinda like hanging it with a strap, then camming the seat to lock side loads.

I haven't tried it with rope, only straps. I'm 220-225 and I don't really notice much flex at all. I am using XOP 6 point brackets on two of mine and like them better - they have more contact points with the tree than those LW offset brackets. With a quick connect strap like I mentioned back on page 8, this is real easy to hang. I guess if you have to tie a knot it might be more work to hold it and tie it off. A tube is the way to go and I know a place stocking sand blasted 9" tubes :) A machined post is also a nice option.

feeling bummed....I got my foot rest today and it is the wrong one. I double checked and did buy the right one from ebay but it is not as pictured. I have a email into the sell hopefully he can make it right with the correct footrest.

Neat, but given the ear location, probably wouldn't work as well. On the one I got I had to bias the post hole to the front.
