Soft Platform?

I think it has merit...if you could somehow figure how to eliminate bark noise from moving around the tree. Otherwise you'd have to be content with your position anytime an animal is within earshot.

Right now, this is the biggest disadvantage and I'm not sure the tradeoff value is there, but let's see where it ends up.

Another masterful mspaint creation. By moving the strap connecting the foot "box" via the toes instead of the heels and using a rigging ring, it may be possible to shift your weight allowing for weak side, drop and 180 degree shots.

Great thinking! My only concern is to pressure? Maybe we give this one a tune too. Seems like it might be like standing ballerina style.

Isn't this part of a climbing method?

It seems more like a soft ROS, imo.

I liked where you were heading with the og. soft platforms. I thought a skeletonized frame and webbing might have worked.

Anyways, I appreciate you guys and wouldn't rule this out.
It is both. Using one of the loops as your 2tc loop during the climb, then stick the other foot in at height for platform mode.

How do you get a weak side shot off with a ROS? Don't you just walk around the ROS to a better point of view/position? Honestly not trying to be snarky, just asking because I've never tried it.

I would have to see a video of that one bud…. You will look like a fish out of water trying to set up for a shot making all sorts of noise on the bark of the tree.

This is not like a ring of steps. You are not just walking around the tree…

Yeah, not sure this thread was created to bring out the naysayers. Thought the intent was to engage folks in some good old fashioned SH collaboration with the hopes of creating a better product by incorporating constructive criticism.

Last sentence of the original post:

“Beat it up fellas!”

I am giving constructive criticism. ie… how are you going to get shots 360 around the tree.

I would like to give it a go just for scouting to start with. Hike in possible spots, 2TC climb, then scout around tree for possible shots or clearing lanes!

@Weldabeast can you speak to what a soft, flexing platform sounds like against bark?

I was referencing what @Weldabeast posted by @justsomedude, and the Sam's Stealth climb method which uses a stick stirrup.

I see that your method uses 2TC and then switch to soft ROS mode. Probably easier to get to height that way.
