Put me in coach I’m ready to get back into this climbing methodI see a "where's Sally" repeat coming around with this one!

Dead on!I answer for myself what I see as an advantage.
Climbing SRT or 2TC, you need a foot loop which this provides. Then at height, this also serves as your platform thus reducing the amount of stuff and weight overall.
Better is based on the user I think. To some, nirvana is reached with a certian platform or ROS. This is just a potential non-fixed climb aider/non-fixed platform or a fairly simple DIY add on to an existing set up.Soooooo…. What you are saying is …a ring of steps?….
From a design perspective what’s the aim for this @always89y ? What are you hoping this system will do that make it better than the others?
Great idea. I would be a bit concerned about opposing toe damage! But, I'm uncoordinated like that!Ok, let's go back to the original design:

This appears to work very well for a static, strong-side shot with the issue being to maneuver around the tree for other shots. What if you added ice cleats (cramp-on style) after you attach the soft platform to your boots? This may give you traction against the tree to maneuver but would otherwise not be in the way.
This idea is growing on me. Adding some spike bolts to the wear plate could give enough traction to be beneficial.Ice cleats aren't sharp and only have a point for traction so slicing isn't an issue but stepping on the webbing bridge between the feet may cause problems. If you stiffened this bridge by doubling up on the webbing, maybe adding a thin piece of kydex between the layers, it would prevent this bridge from flopping around and should stay out of the way.
I don't see the difference between those and the spikes on standoffs etc that we all use on public already, it's not a spike designed to penetrate the cambium, it's designed to bite/grip the outer bark just like standoffs, so different than bolts and gaffs. I'm sure your local DNR/forest service will take this post as a get out of jail free cardThis idea is growing on me. Thought on Public land use or possibly creating pressure points, there are 3 layers of webbing there and boots.

Uhhh how do you pee with out getting it on your boots? So, @Redbeard and I have been throwing this idea around with some motivation from @Weldabeast stirrups and bag platform, for some time now. It grew some legs this weekend and we got one put together to test out. It's actually super comfortable and surprisingly stable (taking into consideration that it's a "floating" platform...kind of)?
Anywho, here's where it's at. Mod 2 looses 2 of the biners and allows the center stabilization strap to be adjusted for tree diameter. Beat it up fellas!

I love it bro! Hey, did you go ahead and order some of those spikes to try out or are you going to pull them off your leather jacket? This idea is growing on me. Adding some spike bolts to the wear plate could give enough traction to be beneficial.

Ordered the spikes and got a great deal on a bedazzler for yours!I love it bro! Hey, did you go ahead and order some of those spikes to try out or are you going to pull them off your leather jacket?
Super-bueno! If mine doesn't show up with tassels and sparkles I'm going to be sad.Ordered the spikes and got a great deal on a bedazzler for yours!
