Wow! That is truly impressive!!! Nice work. I think you really know how to display and photo!!!Made a few updates. Also went out and played. Like 2TC, it is technique driven. There is no "simply walking from step to step". It's also surprisingly silent...with the right technique. By point the feet down and pushing down while contacting the tree, the winning strap "rolls" onto the bark pretty silently. You have the advantage of putting some weight into the thing on contact.
Moving around the tree is fairly simple. Push out with hands, pull feet away, reposition and reinguage feet. Stand up. Where this is simular to a ring of steps is the "back pressure" or pull you get on your main tether when positioning off center. That pull is what allows us ROS users to get what is an off side shot for the platform guys. On a ROS, and this method, all shots are on side...it's a matter of getting around the tree.
Got rid of biners, added wear plates, and most recently added an adjustment strap to the band webbing on @Red Beard suggestion

I still think the flat panel with the noodles sewn inside is a great idea....it could be folded in different configurations to change the shape of the standing surface....I don't like sewing and am happy with the hunt sac so I haven't attemptedI abandoned my soft platform pretty quick due to bulk.

Hahaha! I've had to learn fast! Thanks!Wow! That is truly impressive!!! Nice work. I think you really know how to display and photo!!!
Having the point of contact on ur toe area is gonna be ruff after a while....go stand on a ladder rung for a while....u gonna end up with that rung in the center of ur foot or more toward the heel...having it on the balls of ur feet will make u have to have more muscle groups working to keep balance.... think about climbing with an aider...u get it centered and used ur toe off the treeAnother masterful mspaint creation. By moving the strap connecting the foot "box" via the toes instead of the heels and using a rigging ring, it may be possible to shift your weight allowing for weak side, drop and 180 degree shots.

And if u stab/slice an ice cleat into the webbing?Ok, let's go back to the original design:

This appears to work very well for a static, strong-side shot with the issue being to maneuver around the tree for other shots. What if you added ice cleats (cramp-on style) after you attach the soft platform to your boots? This may give you traction against the tree to maneuver but would otherwise not be in the way.
And if u stab/slice an ice cleat into the webbing?
Snippity
What if u had a 2" wide strap or 10-11mm rope that would attach around the trunk that had stopper knots or bumps in set intervals... Just enough to put the ball of ur foot on the knot and push.
Yes a softer lighter rings of steps.....lol .....dont forget the number 1 goal of saddle hunting is to do it as light as possible.Soooooo…. What you are saying is …a ring of steps?….
From a design perspective what’s the aim for this @always89y ? What are you hoping this system will do that make it better than the others?
