Talk me into a ROS

ROS is where it’s at. Put them about even with the top of your sticks. It’s money. Why anyone wants to carry a platform is beyond me. The only advantage a platform has over a ROS is relieving one’s self of their morning coffee. A little dribble on my knee pad never hurt a thing.

Dang it, bought and sold a ROS of Pioneer steps. You guys have me feeling like I didn’t give it enough time. Maybe I need to order another set.

Not to hijack the thread, but I love everything about my pioneer steps accept the color, real bright silver. I currently have the wrapped in black hockey tape but I’m curious how many of you paint them? I’ll wait til the off-season but my boots already pulled away some rape and silver is showing.

This increased sales of ROS on the classifieds for a while..lol.

After using a ROS and being able to move around the tree to always keep it between me and the deer, with ease (even easier with the JX3…), I can’t imagine ever using a platform again. I would feel limited. Personal preference, but I was very shocked at how much I like them. Using 6 EWO Squirrel Steps on an OCB.

I've always used a Gen 1 predator. I am thinking about trying a ROS. Smaller to pack and take up the tree, but I am concerned about being able to unweight my adjustable bridge to change its length.

Grab the tree and stand up. Feel uneasy put the lineman's belt around the tree.

In my ROS experience, this is a legitimate concern.

Just saying I’ve been loving my Novix Helo stand. Not as light as any of the others talked about here but man is it rock solid, dead silent and comfortable. And a hell of a deal at $204 at the time.

That said and sticking with this thread’s theme, I am still following this thread indirectly trying to talk myself into trying an ROS. Have not given this system a fair shot yet to see if I really like it or not.

Question for you ROS crowd: when an animal appears at your weak-side (1:00-4:00 for right handlers) suddenly, do you still try to keep the tree between yourself and the animal? Or do you go over the bridge and pivot your feet? This situation would arise if you didn’t have enough time to move around the tree. Quick-action type of scenario.

In my soft saddle, I’ll go over the bridge, roll my hips to the right, and take the shot.

In my JX3, I’ll keep the tree between me and the animal. With the fork on the hybrid, it’s effortless to move around the tree.

Thanks. I’ve used a platform and a platform with 3 steps on it. Haven’t used “just” a ROS yet. Was wondering if the footwork is essentially the same.

was never interested in a ROS... climbed a pine tonight that just happened to have a bunch of branches right at platform level... ended up spending most of the sit standing on branches... great.. another thing i gotta put in the cart with Dano

This is my favorite setup always a ring of steps right at hunting elevation in all pine and firs
