Surprisingly quiet evening after such an eventful morning. Perhaps the wind swirled midday more than I realized and they spooked, or just wandered off, or just stayed out on the isolated peninsula that they went towards, or circled around the other side, or who knows but what I do know is I saw two, possibly three bucks, at least five does and a fawn and all but one of each was within bow range, which by my standards is a pretty stellar day. We just won't talk about the missed shot/broken knock situation even though it'll be burned into my memory like the time I drew back into the tree on a buck at 12 yards year one, then clipped my release with the trigger swiveled backwards on one at 20 yards year two. Hopefully the once per year trend continues, but the lack of follow up opportunities trend doesn't. Man he was a dandy, gotta stop complaining and figure out how to get back after him.
