Team 2 BB - Bambi Blasters

You're fine @thedutchtouch. I should really work on myself.

I'm going to go back out a little later in the morning today, not quite sure where yet. Lady horn was not impressed with my performance on sick kid duties so I'll have to stay home more today

Good luck it there! Just my first season but it seems like it's been a rough rut so far

Getting boys to school this morning, the going for a walk on public to see if I can find somewhere to set up! Will be my first time out this year. Our temps went from near 70 mid morning yesterday to 20 this morning and windy. Deer should be on their feet. If nothing else, I won't be sitting in front of my work computer! Already winning the day. Good luck all.

My first season was a frustrating mix of me walking around and letting all the deer see and hear me, then setting up for a hang and hope and if I saw deer watching them walk by 70-120 yards away while I'm holding my bow. You're doing awesome for a first season

Enjoy your walk and I hope you find some great spots to slay

Well. Sat there untill 11:30. Walked out and was blown away by all the rubs, and deer tracks. Looked pretty fresh. I picked my daughter up, and then we went down by the field. The wind got pretty chilly. She froze. But she took it like a champ. Had a nice 4pt come out, but to far away. At like 4:30 she was getting cold, and I only saw one small buck out on the field. So we decided to get down and go sit some where a little more out of the wind. So she gets down, I drop the cross bow down to her, and the field go crazy with a few small bucks chasing does every where. Lucky I set up to the back side of the field, so I was able to finish pulling stuff down. Right at that point buck and doe go right by us at like 20. No shot. But pretty exciting. Almost had em run by again, but trees and brush in the way. Had a doe circle us in down wind..but again, she was smart and kept the logs and brush between us. Right after sunset she was to cold. Deer moved to the other side of the field, so we ducked back out.
Kick in the pants was where I was hunting earlier, the owner and her daughters where up for the weekend at the old farm, and heard a buck grunting back where I was earlier at like 2. So missed out on some excitement back there. But I gladly traded it for that hunt with my daughter.

Well team I just let off a rushed shot on a buck. Lighted knock didn't light and I was rushing so I think I missed but didn't see arrow, it just sounded like it hit the ground, he reacted to the noise but continued to follow the rutty doe he was after it seemed to me and I watched him walk off 120 yards. Going to give it a bit and get down and try to find the arrow, go from there.

Hey @Horn. My crossbow is currently running Xtreme FOC. After I burried my Magnus heads in the dirt, I couldn't get them sharp in time. So I screwed on a few of my Massais. Only a few inches low at 30 so I went with it. May not go back. Few more grains seems to have settled that thing down some. I felt like it was kicking a some. Feels a little smoother. Just not gonna want to loose one in the mud! Lol. Screenshot_20221111-074012-514.png

Arrow located, broken knock, clean miss. Got winded by a second buck a bit later. I like my new spot a lot!

How did your hunt go yesterday? Anything exciting?

Well, not quite as hoped. Public land was very busy. So I had to improvise and switch locations. Got eyes on a bunch of sign. Saw 2 yearlings.

Ended up not getting out in the afternoon thanks to a dog that ate some pieces of a squeaker and had an upset stomach. At least I got out. That's step one. There are plenty of deer around. Just a matter of putting in the time.

I sent this to a friend. Is it deer?

Happy Gun season team. Today activates my 2nd MO buck tag. Happy hunting. Just maybe I can upgrade my buck.

Just the bark I'd say on that bush. Looks like maybe but it looks like some would have definitely broke from a deer. Lots of other broken branches and some other smaller and older rubs

Well only turkeys today. Roosted right by me so I had some excitement.

Met a guy at the truck. He says there's a big rub line that sounds like it's just past where I've been going. He was suspiciously quiet when i mentioned ladder stands over that way... anyway said there's turds to be found there too.

So in summary all my struggles are.... me :tearsofjoy: glad I shot that little one when I did! It's tasty!

I guess on that, what the heck should I be looking for for food? Still acorns?
