Team 3 2019

Finally had a doe walk into my kill range with the trad bow, however she didn’t read the script I had planned! Lol

Came in from the dreaded 4 o’clock position for us right hand shooters. Wouldn’t have been too big of deal cause I had great cover, but I didn’t expect anything from that direction given the layout and past experience of deer movement in that location. So long story short she walked within 15 yards, snuck up on me and got downwind before I could let an arrow fly... lol

Regardless of the outcome it was still a great hunt

Congratulations on a nice buck!
5. A photo of the hunter and saddle (either laying on the ground or on the hunter) with the full body of the deer is required to be posted in the official deer contest thread for submission. If you have 1000 posts or more you do not need to include the saddle in your photo, I will take your word on the honor system.

If you're picture won't suffice I probably wouldn't have had an eligible photo entry either if I would have killed on Friday. I usually make sure to get the deer and weapon and would have added the saddle but hunting by yourself sometimes I don't bother to include me as well. Thanks for pointing it out @BRAVEHEART

Sorry guys, I don't mean to sound like a Monday morning quarterback. Thanks for sharing your hunts with the rest of us.
Believe me, I have a lot of pictures of deer without me in the photo. "Been there, done that!" ;)

Well, tomorrow is the WV opener! Looks to be a warm one, and a S/SW wind.... not ideal, but I'll make a go of it. I plan on starting a little later, and do a ground scout in the am. I hope to get a little Intel on leeward hill that I haven't pinned bedding down on.. next week we have a north wind moving in on Thursday, temps dropping 25+, degrees 90 as the high on Wednesday to 69 as the high on Thursday!! I need a north wind to hunt a specific bedding area that is only used on those off winds! I haven't been in there since last November, when I took a nine point, and i dont expect many others are going that way too steep and too close to parking... so well see, I'm probably gonna get "sick" on thursday!!

Has anyone been out this week?? What's everyone seeing as far as movement? Acorns are dropping fast and hard here, and the little ag we have, beans have all but turned and corn is being cut!!!

Haven't been out this week. Last Friday the deer were pounding dried beans and not worried about acorns. They were on their feet early in average temps.

Alright guys. Im on call this weekend so no hunting for me. I'll be living vicariously through you guys this weekend so post pics, keep me updated, spell out your strategy for your hunts, anything! Sucks not being in the woods when its deer season!

Yes it does. I’m just stalking the weather for next weekend. 94 Wednesday, 67 Saturday and a N wind. Just hoping that doesn’t change in the next week.

@ThePennsylvanian Good luck in WV.
Michigan's opener is Oct. 1st, but I got out today to try and observe an area from a distance. Unfortunately, it started raining so hard I couldn't see anything! It really came down for awhile with thunder and lightning finally driving me out of the swamp. A couple of hours before dark I was road scouting and saw three different (yellow) bean fields with a doe and fawn feeding together in each one. Acorns are dropping, but I didn't pick up any fresh sign. I'm also excited about the big weather shift starting Thursday. Good luck to all. GO TEAM #3 !!

OK, I am about to go hunting now for opening day. It is October in Canada and its freaking 27 degrees!! Sorry, 80 degrees!!

I guess I'm going to hunt over water - I don't have hot weather tactics for Christs sake!!?
