Team 5 Thread

Just got busted by a nice doe! Was full draw waiting for final steps from behind tree. Winded, blew and bolted all at once. Noticed then there were two, not sure what the other was! Hunted this morning and had a button at 20. Was out early this afternoon and had a spine also at 20 around 3 pm. Hoping they show on other side where my son is set up!!

My heart hasn't been in the hunt lately, spending too much time chasing human females and dealing with this puppy lol. Should have gone out today but the main woman I've been seeing was free, so... she came over instead. I will be out on Thanksgiving Day for sure though, and if I don't shoot a deer, probably the following morning too. Going to try to find a day or two during the week to get out during MD rifle season as well, hopefully not as much of the orange army if I take a day off work midweek, but I haven't scouted any gun areas so I'll be going in blind and not expecting much.

Dang. That's sweet.

I've been looking to add a 350 legend to my arsenal for firearm season here in Illinois. They just became legal this year.

Check PSA Black Friday deals. They have some great deals on AR’s right now,but I’m not sure if the had the 350Leg. I wasn’t looking for it.

My youngin decided to sleep in this morning, so I grabbed my bow and hit the woods. I had a good 9-10 point at 30 yds. I could see him in the bino’s but I couldn’t see the pins. Should have grabbed the rifle like I said I was.

I’ve been at it, but nothing close that I’m looking for. Had a big doe at 15 yds yesterday but had my compound bc it was super cold/ windy & had my iwom. Slept in this morning & went out this afternoon, no deer close they were on the opposite ridge 200 yds away. I’ll probably go in the morning before church.

Stop chasing human females. That's the hunt you never win

Well first firearm season here was a dud for me. I passed on a 6 pt.

I did go out with my buddy and he got his first buck. A small 7 pt. It was awesome to see.

The quota hunt the boy and I went on was a dud. I hunted Sunday am, saw 15 deer, and had a shooter dogging a doe, but he never got closer then 50. I took the boy yesterday afternoon, and we saw another shooter cruising. I threw the kitchen sink at him, but I couldn’t stop him. The little one isn’t ready to make walking shots yet. I slept in this am. I’ve been averaging 4 hrs of sleep a night for the past week, and needed to get a few extra.

I missed a doe a 30 yds tonight. The arrow looked funny as it was flying, may have hit a branch. It was to dark to tell if one was there or not. I’ll be back at it in the am.

Counting down until Thanksgiving morning, was planning to be in the woods first thing but rain forecast doesn't look great, tapers off at noon. I'll probably just wear my rain gear and send it in the AM but will be out for afternoon/PM for sure

I’m with you man! Gonna do the same thing in the morning. A lot of family stuff rest of the day then another hunt Friday morning before the gun opener on Saturday. Gonna hunt with my Dad on a small private place near home

I always hunt turkey on Thanksgiving, lol. So far, I'm batting a 1000. I'm sure I'll be in a tryptophan induced stupor the rest of the day tomorrow. I'm planning to go out a little later this morning in hopes of catching the movement caused by most folks leaving the woods around 9:30 or 10, and then set up somewhere for the evening. Then I'll probably be back at it Friday.

I had another shooter push a doe by me this am. When he got past me a good ways, I hit him with a long grunt then a snort wheeze. He then walked 360 deg around me at 40 yds without presenting a clean shot, then went back to chasing a doe. He didn’t have the biggest rack, but he was definitely a mature buck. He’d gotten an arrow if he’d just stopped in the one shooting lane I had at that distance. There is nothing like watching a big bodied deer trotting sideways all bristled up looking for a fight.

Rain is supposed to be relatively light by me so I think I will head out for the AM. Worst case scenario I see no deer and give the rain gear a workout but I'm planning on coming home for midday to let the dog out for a while anyway so if I get soaked I'll be able to dry out before going back for the evening.

I'll make a gametime decision about climbing a tree or setting up on the ground based on how wet it is once I'm there. I think I might have a tree umbrella tucked away somewhere around here...
