Tethrd One Stick Gen 3's - Season review so far

yep, i've seen that example where a mouse could break a climbing rope under certain, ideal conditions....if i recall....as you approach horizontal then the force tends to infinity in these conditions

here though, the rope isn't horizontal, it grabs bark, the stick grabs bark, and the stick is levered into the tree and the friction between the stick and tree (or the teeth digging in) holds a lot of weight

if a stick broke free, i'd be fine unless i was going around a branch (the only time I don't have lanyard and tether in play at the same time)...if it broke right then then i'd have either my lanyard or tether to help me out
Yep, and for me personally if the 1/8 worked and fit everything I’d go with that, Amsteel doesn’t weigh anything.

I tried both sizes in the cleat thing and liked how the 7/64" slid in better....so I ordered those, but you're right 1/8" is significantly stronger without much weight....maybe i'll buy some next year....or make them....but I hate doing buries on thin amsteel

Jk. I hope it's not play in between the tube/step. Seemed like the standoffs sometimes would make noise until the finish wore down. Maybe rule that out first, call Tethrd if it persists.
finally got around to submitted a request to them. There is definitely metal creaking sound. I got a video of it and sent it to them. Hoping they will exchange it

I went out for an evening hunt and one of my ONE sticks has a loose bottom and top step. I’ve used them somewhere around a dozen times.
That sucks, contact them and let us know what they do or say. Ik u were a skeptic as I was and still am. I bought a set and have been using them. I haven’t sold my other set of sticks for this very reason. Hope they make it right with you!

I filled out the warranty form last night. Unfortunately I haven’t had Goodluck with any product that I bought from them with the exception of a back band. Dump pouches fell apart within 3 weeks give or take, platform with a pretty off set adjustment bolt, and now these sticks. They did send me new pouches, but they fell apart too. I really want to like these sticks because I’m a weight savings kinda guy, but I also want a sound product that you can count on. I’ll let everyone know the response I get and also how the other sticks hold up.

This is my second season using the Gen3's. Everytime I climb I just shake my head at how nice they are. This year I've been going only 3 sticks high and using 2 sticks at that height for my platform. They're solid, quiet, and I can get all the way around the tree if needed.

I'm considering adding a 5th stick to my setup so I can get just a few feet higher...very little bulk and only a lb would be added to an already super light setup.

Going on 5 hunts this season so far, and a couple at the tailend of last year, I love the ones. That said, I'll never ever sell my beast sticks. If there was a magical way to make the beasts 1lb, I'd still be using those despite the bulk

If anyone has a single Gen3 stick they'd be interested in selling, reach out to me.
Do you use an aider on any of your sticks? I only have two sits with mine but so far I love these things. So far just used 3 sticks with a 3-step aider off the bottom stick. I've debated hunting off the top step and adding 2-3 squirrel steps and leaving the platform at home--at least for shorter sits. Maybe I'll try your method though instead and use my 4th stick (two on top)

I hang the first stick then hang all the rest off the saddle and deploy as I go. What does everyone else find works for them?

I do the same except I hang them on my back pack strap. I hang the first one from the ground with a 3 step aider then deploy the others one at a time as I climb.

Yeah 3 step is tough. I maybe run a single aider on the bottom only. A single aider works perfectly with bottom stick and 2nd stick as high as I can put it.

Anyone try swaging their own cable aiders onto the one sticks?… I am thinking about trying it out…

I have 3/16" amsteel loops around the top stand off of each stick that is part of my carry as you go 1 step aider system that I created.

That loop clips onto a kydex clip sold by EWO that I modified with a heat gun so that it grabs the cord better and had a wider mouth also (bent end out and middle in).

I removed all the orange pins except the bottom ones on 2 sticks. These same sticks have a bungee loop attached up top that secures the tops of the stacked sticks.

The sticks are stacked in pairs and carried in pairs.

I can hang 2 from each side of the saddle using those clips. The first comes off by disconnecting bungee and pushing off orange pins.

5 hunts so far, works great.
