Tethrd Predator CFX

So I don't know if ill get in trouble with this post because of my vendor rep status( even though I have yet to receive a single dollar from Hunt Arsenal as my CF designs haven't been produced yet).
I am trying to answer these questions/concerns about the new forged CF and not attacking Tethrd.
The screenshots @Plebe posted are very interesting. Firstly: the company making the new cfx platform makes cf wheels....wheels mostly experience COMPRESSION stress and thats what forged CF is good for, not tensile or tension stress which is what a platform that cams over experiences....
This is the most interesting bit of info yet.
I’m also curious about the teeth like you mentioned on like, page 1.
And what’s up with the standoff? That don’t look like no batwing.

So we’ve got the dimensions, but there’s no listed weight for “the lightest, fully featured, mobile saddle platform that raises the bar for what's possible in the mobile hunting gear.”

That has to be intentional, right? Even if the write up presents as rushed. (Tethrd should pay a legit editor.)

I don't know what to make of that claim "top carbon fiber manufacturer"????
As far as I know, anything rated or used in Aerospace will/should have top billing.
Also CF manufacturing isn't like that, there's no "top" anything. There's standards that must be passed for whatever product you're making.
Also, there's companies that make carbon threads and weaves, then there's many other companies that buy those and make cf composite products.

There's so many options for the resin used in CF composites that it'd be hard to guess what new concoction they've come up with. It could be a delrin type material which is quite strong on its own but mostly in shear and compression stress not tension and tensile.

So what you’re saying (since it’s hard to guess because there are so many options) is it could also not be this delrin type material you speak of and may be a concoction that is strong in tension as well as tensile?

Kinda feels to me like you’re taking some guesses that only lead toward negative outcomes for the product in your last few posts but what do I know.

Oh no, Plebe asked if I had any idea what the polyester resin could be and I have no idea especially since its likely something new so as to make a patent for it.
I do know first hand the differences between Forged CF and CF composites are are traditionally used for all manner of low weight to strength ratios building materials.
Forged carbon fiber is rarely used in tension and tensile stress applications. And as Plebe posted, Tethrds manufacturer makes wheels not beams or building materials..
However:
'BIG DISCLAIMER!' Tethrd obviously did plenty of testing to make a product that can hold the weight rating they've placed on it, and from several videos it looks strong enough to hold heavier guys.

What they did NOT do is make it significantly larger or lighter to reap all the benefits of what traditional CF composites offer.
Also, like the first pursuit platform, forged cf can be a bend don't break material but if its not thick enough it may be awful bendy....
To your first point, absolutely yes! The new material could be something awesome-ly strong and will be a break through for many future CF applications.
I'm looking forward to good reviews of them and hope everyone can one day experience the benefits of non metal platforms. However, don't be surprised if 'a new carbon fiber ' platform breaks because it's not the same as real CF layups.

This is an interesting video about it:
As you can see there are multiple types of Forged CF, however just using the term 'forged CF' implies short fibers in random orientation, unlike optimized forged cf. Their website uses the first term so I make my judgment based off of that information.

This is another decent public knowledge video about forged CF. The comments are quite spot on.
Be sure to notice that all the structural parts Lamborghini made out of forged CF are mostly compression stressed parts, including the connecting rods (explosive force down, crankshaft rotation to force up and compress the air)

I was one of the guys that bought Latitude sticks the second that you could(still love them). I also have a Pursuit platform. I have both because I hunt in a cold weather climate and I got tired of not being able to use my hands after climbing or descending.
The XL size doesn’t appeal to me, but if they come out with a smaller one then maybe. I have the aluminum Predator and generally liked it other than it was too cold during Michigan’s late season.

You guys are all a bunch of suckers. Lemmings. I don’t know how many product failures it’s going to take to see they are just not very good at what they do. (And I’m not going to take the time to create a list of all their issues….but take a step back and start to think about it….it is really bad.). And yet you continue to follow them, talk about their products, and give them money. SMH.

Not trying to fire you up more or anyone else. This thread is a “new product” thread and it’s making me want to sell the few Tethrd products I have. Man, I’m with ya. I don’t get it. People say all products fail. That’s very true. Many great companies have had failures. Not many great companies have bad failures on multiple products. And all products in 2 of the few categories of products they make. Idk, can’t seem to get over it on my end. I could even be totally wrong but oh well.

Perhaps their goals aren’t heat they seem to be.

Meh. To each their own I guess. I bought a phantom saddle kit before I was familiar with this community. I found out since that many people don’t care for their stuff for various (and not unfair) reasons. I’m very comfortable in my saddle, feel the lineman and tether and carabiners are safe, and even like the dump pouches and recliner band I found on the classifieds here. Picked up a predator platform from the classifieds here as well and love it, can toe hook in every time and be rock solid. Happy to carry and climb with their OneSticks, that was a big upgrade for me. I’d have no qualms about buying the CFX today if it met a need or felt like an upgrade for me.

I personally think we’ve reached a too cool for school point as a community sometimes with them. It’s nearly always bagging on them as a company, mock them and you know 3-4 people will support you and laugh too. I was so frustrated trying to figure out the weight and measurements I even jumped in last night.

If you search for a problem you’ll find one with anything from your shoes to your truck to your favorite band. When things break, be it a climbing stick or this website, it’s super easy to point out failure. The successes are seemingly less fun to talk about. It’s hard to innovate and things happen. I’m gonna end this rant with this thought from someone much brighter than me: I always turn to the sports pages first, which records people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures. Earl Warren said that while the papers have always held the motto if it bleeds it leads. I hope you all find deer and hunt safely regardless of what section you read first.

We should take bets what the actual weight is. Tethrd has commented everything from 3lbs to 3.8lbs the last 48 hours.

Standard predator is about 3 on the money no strap. I’m betting this comes in at 3.2-3-3 but I’ll weigh it when it shows up and we can see. Then I’ll trade you my barely used platform for your barely used Sitka and we’ll both be happy.

I have no skin in this carbon platform game, as I am a relative newbie to saddle hunting and own virtually nothing at present made by Tethrd. I did own a set of Skeletor sticks that I changed out the original lower stand-offs with free upgrades from Tethrd, plus filing the edges of all the stand-offs to make sure the bending issue did not occur to me. I sold them a few weeks ago in excellent condition, but when I used them I FOLLOWED THE RECOMMENDATIONS on their website. Most of the shorty sticks suggest tying them on, then lifiting up from the bottom to take up any additional "slack" rather than apply all that force to the lower stand-off.

As with most hunting related gear, there are "names" that get top billing....often due to excellent marketing and name recognition. Mathews bows are a prime example.....how many double page spreads just inside the front cover of bowhunting mags has Mathews bought in the past decade? How many TV hunting shows have Mathews bows featured in very prominent shots and ads? So a bunch of folks see these very intentional marketing ploys and think, "Hmmmm....I got to have me one of those because so-and-so kills some whopper bucks with them!" In the trad archery world, Black Widow bows has similarly owned the "name" for a long time. Has BW or Mathews ever had a product that failed? Of course, but it is not so common and good CS goes a long way to cover the disappointment.

Long before I seriously considered saddle hunting, I was seeing a few guys who made it a mission to bash on Tethrd. Same guys showing up on various sites with the same agenda.....bash on Tethrd as hard as possible. So it makes me wonder.....did they get harmed in some manner....or do they have some vendetta against the owner(s)? Is it really as aafety thing as some play it out.....or is it about being a purposeful negative influencer doing their best to rip on a particular company? IDK? But there are clearly folks who buy Tethrd gear and hunt safely and share that with others when asked. This platform will have to stand on its own merits....or not....and I hope for the sake of those buying them that they work out well.

3.3lbs is closer to what I was seeing as well. When it was saying 3.8 or so for the XL, I was very surprised and upset about it. Glad others are seeing the lighter weight in the XL version also.
