The Hateful Eight team discussion thread

I know that was my buck i pushed. I got in 20 late because i had to detour for gas, and i ended up hanging only 65 yards from his bed, error on judgment of distance. Oh well only the first day and other bucks im sure.

Alright team let's take a poll. I have an East wind ( not my favorite for tonight) I have public by my house that gets hit hard but looking at aerials I can see dear trails in grass patches and could play the East wind, unsure of buck or doe... I have an area I call the Run way that an east wind works great for but is prime around the 30th so I want to stay out. Then I have an area that I'm u sure off, I know therea buck sign in a mountain stream bottom. I was going to sit on the ridge line at the north point and hope I just get enough off wind that they cruise by me. I know there's a buck that cruise that ridge not sure of the size. SO....

Do I play it safe, go to the land near my house and set up on the only tree in a small wood line connecting many narrow stretch of fields. Or Take a chance on the wind and get early aggressive on unknown conditions for a unknown buck...

If you can access prime time spot without disturbing then I’d do it for the following reason:
1. If it’s prime time because they use the area all season, then it can be productive to tonight and the weather is right (I’ll be out near Williamsport)
2. If it’s prime time because of the date itself then the area may not be heavily used and you may not disturb them. 1 hunt on Oct 5 should allow a few weeks to reset if you do bump deer.

Just my 2 cents

Agree....

It's a spot where 2 draws meet and I think they only start cruising during pre rut. Just don't want to booger it. There is talks of a big 10

Man it's so tempting to go there, just don't want to ruin a spot I know when they cruise... I am so indecisive sometimes

If it’s a true pinch point / travel corridor I don’t think I you’re entrance will bump them off of it the rest of the season.

I’m most worried about messing up spots close to bedding areas and scrape areas. They will find a new area to bed in

Ok so... the buck beds on about 150 yards from the area and does about 100. In late Oct. He will scoot the bottom and push out does past me going to the other draw... I saw 5 bucks last year 4 shooters. The buck I shot was the 4th on through to give me a shot and it was on a south west wind. Which helps because they bed on the other steep of the narrow draw which really eliminates sight and sound. So I'm going to hold off and go there on a S. SW wind. Since that's the conditions I'm used to there. I decided to sit on a North Point of the ridge and how to observe / kill stand tonight. I might get a good SE wind change to help get movement

Im in... forgot my saw so had to sweat breaking branches lol. So its 72, sunny and iim sweaty. Set up on fresh sign about 100 yds from stream on the bottom. Bedding ridge behind me and a 50/50 wind either it will pay off or it wont. I heard 2 on the ridge behind me they just can get east of me till wind change at 5 lol. Goes from NE to E to SE

Anyone else had a really slow start to the season? Only been able to get out a couple times. Schedule has been tough and the Brewers being in the postseason hasn’t helped. When I have gotten out though the woods have been silent except for some squirrels. Pre rut should be heating up here though over the next couple weeks and my schedule is loosening up.
