Alright team let's take a poll. I have an East wind ( not my favorite for tonight) I have public by my house that gets hit hard but looking at aerials I can see dear trails in grass patches and could play the East wind, unsure of buck or doe... I have an area I call the Run way that an east wind works great for but is prime around the 30th so I want to stay out. Then I have an area that I'm u sure off, I know therea buck sign in a mountain stream bottom. I was going to sit on the ridge line at the north point and hope I just get enough off wind that they cruise by me. I know there's a buck that cruise that ridge not sure of the size. SO....
Do I play it safe, go to the land near my house and set up on the only tree in a small wood line connecting many narrow stretch of fields. Or Take a chance on the wind and get early aggressive on unknown conditions for a unknown buck...
Agree....If you can access prime time spot without disturbing then I’d do it for the following reason:
1. If it’s prime time because they use the area all season, then it can be productive to tonight and the weather is right (I’ll be out near Williamsport)
2. If it’s prime time because of the date itself then the area may not be heavily used and you may not disturb them. 1 hunt on Oct 5 should allow a few weeks to reset if you do bump deer.
Just my 2 cents
