using sticks to go up, platform to hunt, but rappel down

If I'm using climbing sticks, I don't. Probably that's the norm still.

I'm using cable aiders or a versa aider depending on the sticks. I don't see a need for an extra 2lbs of rope. That's equivalent of an extra stick...or two...to not stretch things out and have a pretty comfortable climb.

If I was going to two sticks with multiple step aiders or something like that, I'd definitely rappel, for the overall system advantage and safer, when done properly, descent.
I stand corrected! Maybe I’m just lazy but I honestly find looping a rope and stepping up, sitting, moving my foot loop up, then standing up, and moving my tether up is just plain easy. But too each their own and Who am I to judge for I will be judged way more by the good lord when time comes! As long as we are happy and having fun is all what matters, no matter how you do it!
