Watch your straps!!!!

Thanks for the heads up @Razorbak66 and for doing what you thought was best given the situation. Often times we are not buying from a big corporation but rather from a Mark, or Matt, or Greg, or Dan O. Good, hard-working guys that we want to see do well. And even though this site is usually the exception to the rule, the internet is not particularly thoughtful in situations like this and I can see your concern about this turning into a bash-fest.

The saddle hunting community is so small and manufacturers are even smaller and least they are hearing our concerns and will address known issues and very receptive to our input. I feel this manufacturer will make it right unlike other tree stand company’s who knows of issues but won’t listen to the input and make it right
So in all just please check your equipment and in doubt replace or double up

Thanks for the reminder. It really does not matter at this point since the Manufacture is going to issue a statement. If it is OOAL like people are thinking her will absolutely follow through. He has been nothing but great to the hunting and saddle community.

Ok update I just got off phone with manufacturer and they tried to contact me last night and I would have talked to them last night if I known to check my phone. They are very understanding and was already in stages to do their own in house before this unfortunate incident and kept asking if their was anything they can do which to me means a lot to me and that they were concern for my safety as well as others and they will be issuing a public announcement ASAP concerning this issue so I’m not putting them on blast as my original statement was to check your straps/ gear regardless of what manufacturer you use and if any concerns then contact them and talk to them. Remember always let someone know where your gonna be when hunting as if you don’t show up by appointed time. Safety is and always be the number one goal

In light of this, use some form of gps (OnX) on your phone and share the hunting spots with your wife or hunting buddy.

I think you should post the name . I don't care about not wanting to do anything till you see how they handle it. It's a safty issue and if we know what strap it was we could stop using it and maybe saving someone else an injury or worse. That would be the right thing to do and I don't care what company it was just so we know. Things happen and that doesn't mean the company is bad.

I use an app called Coordinates. Its free and makes it very simple to send my wife, via text my coordinates. She demands them.
If you use an iPhone you can send your location straight from the messaging app. First thing I do every time I decide I'm gonna climb a tree

I an in the process of daisy chaining. I am not a fan of stitching at one spot with my life at stake.
But it was the strap, right? not the platform itself?

Agreed. The most important thing when this happens is 1) Is Razor ok? 2) How can I help my fellow hunters be aware of a possible LIFE THREATENING issue, 3) Contacting the Manufacturer. Maybe I am too concerned for other people on here but that is the right thing to do IMHO. What if it had been you, or worse, your son or daughter on a Ridge Runner last night??? And you had an issue with same equipment but didnt care to share because you were more worried about someone bashing said Manufacturer. I just dont get the thought process.
He wouldnt have been bashing any Manufacturer, just giving everyone a heads to THEN check your stuff.

I dont mean to be mean but I hope you see my point that it would be a concern of mine for others.

Given this forum's history, if he had come out and posted pics and bashed the company, many would be all up in arms saying he should've contacted the manufacturer first before posting. Sometimes you just can't win. That's what I'm taking from this story. Glad he's alright.

I'm a little pissed off about this thread. If others could be injured by your failure to report an unsafe condition then what good is posting in the first place? Check your gear? I always do.

The OP wasn't required to provide any information about this situation. He chose to provide some, which happened to be enough that many people were able to figure out what platform he was talking about. He has confirmed that in his posts. If you read through this thread it is pretty apparent which platform it was.

Some people may have chosen to handle it differently but, that doesn't change the fact that the information the OP volunteered is more than we all had prior to his post. Let's not let this thread become confrontational, which will just make it less likely for a person who has a similar issue in the future to post about it at all.

I know. The information had to dragged out of him. If it was me, I would just post all relevant information that may keep someone else from getting killed or paralyzed. I would feel it was my duty instead of protecting manufacturers from reduced sales.

In short, let's remember that we're all beasts when leverage is concerned, all platforms and climbing methods are fallible, and safety is up to us.

Whether it's genI predators snapping, OCBs on ROS failing (or not being fully cammed over), ridgerunners breaking straps on camover, DIY platforms breaking, ambush platforms arriving so damaged as to be unusable, etc...no platform is immune and failure can happen quickly and without warning.

Regardless of what you are using, in general don't move your weight from one thing to another without consideration of one or both items failing.

Wow didn’t realize if I didn’t want to post a pic or name a name I was wrong for just reminding you guys regardless of what brand of platform you use to check your straps
I’m not the type to bash anyone and I was waiting on a reply and address it accordingly and many of you guys already guessed the manufacturer so I will leave it at that and hope they make it right

A public service announcement for folks to double check their safety straps is not a waste of time, nor s it controversial as some here seem to think. It’s what people in this community should do more often.

Not outing the mfg is a classy way to handle it. For folks who want names and pics they are missing the point, your post isn’t about publicly shaming small business owners who happen to also be fellow saddle hunters, it’s about a first hand close call being used as a reminder for folks that double checking gear is important.

Who said anything about publicly shaming a company? You are looking at this the wrong way, IMHO. Safety is paramount. Or should be.
