What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

Put a back bar on my bow. I don’t know how I ever shot without one…

Not today, but Saturday I took my new Cruzr XC and one stick into the woods to test it out some more. I finally figured out how to move my tether up with relative ease and no noise. I did 2 climbs and repels with it.

Tried out my new USA Pro platform rope attachment and was really impressed with the ease and stability. Then practiced one sticking using the new attachment. Finally shot 25 arrows. When’s opening day!

Well took the plunge into the LWCG world, ordered a .5 with a medium seat. Pretty exited! Hoping it helps gives me some confidence for those “weak side” shots.

Also climbed for the first time this year, am I a rookie or what?! Definitely glad I took the time to Practice. No major issues just kept getting my order out of whack. I hang my second stick off my first stick after the first has been set. I forgot to even hang the second stick twice… used the sticks I hang off my saddle

Also so far a few subtle changes I’ve tried to make this year to my gear seems to be taking my backwards. Tried the Amsteel guy USA and I’d rather use daisy chains.

Also it seems I can’t get away from normal sticks and a cable aider. I tried the Black diamond Etier but it seems it either works perfect for the tree or screws me.

been tweeking my setup all week. I have done a couple of SRT climbs and rappels each day. Been trying out the JRB hitch and the double meech on my tether and for the climb/descent. I am not sure if I like my figure 8 better for decent or just a munter/super munter on a carabiner. The figure 8 works a little easier, while the carabiner without a figure 8 is quieter.

Did a practice climb today while teaching my friend all the ropes and knots and setup options. (He just got his first saddle yesterday). I was planning on doing more scouting but had an issue with one of my kids and had to bail out early.

Hope all is well

Sorry I should have explained that better. He had his four month old shots earlier in the week. He was feeling crappy with a low grade fever the next two days then started getting a rash. My wife took him to an urgent care just to get him checked real quick. She actually called me right as I got to my top stick. I rappelled down, packed up and met her there. All is good, doc said it should be gone in a day or two, just a reaction from everything.

I hate appointments that include shots, both my girls alway end up with a low grade fever afterwards.

I did some early morning bow practice immediately following my morning run, I wanted to try shooting after getting my heart rate up. I ran 2 miles this morning then did some low light practice. It went pretty well. 20 yard shot at 6 AM. My poor target is getting pretty threadbare.

Picked up a ‘22-23 hunting regs magazine at Walmart. I’ve been adding dates to my calendars and always look forward to reading it. I Can’t believe small game starts in less than 2 weeks! Archery deer will run from Sept 10-Jan 31! I don’t mind skipping opening week(s) when it’s 95+ outside. Besides, we are blessed to have such a long and generous season here in Ga.
Man I cannot wait!

Our opener is also Sept 10 and closes Dec 31...though I'm desperate with questionable sanity if I'm out after Thanksgiving. With only 5 weeks until opener, I should probably start shooting my bow again.
Yes you should! I try to shoot 1 set at least every day. Just came in from doing that. I’m hoping for some early season success cause I’m going to get my right rotator cuff fixed. I’m hoping to schedule the end of November. I’ll at least have my Kentucky trip and 2 weeks to hunt at home. I’ll be down 4-6 months, but it’s long long overdue! I just scheduled the MRI and we’ll talk to the surgeon a week after that and see.

Oh, wow man! I hope everything goes well with the surgery. My right rotator had given me fits for a long time and my left shoulder is always twingy. That said, unless I knew I was going to die unless I had an operation immediately, I would wait until the last day of deer season passed before having anything that would take me out of the game.
