Why don't yall 2TC?

Treesuit platform

Good thought. Did the original treesuit climbing aid have a cable or did it hang from a tether? I can't recollect.

I was thinking something like a flat \_/ shaped plate that could be adjusted widthwise to snug the tree would provide some left and right balance and prevent swinging around the tree. Rig lines to an eye to give it stability. (I suppose that would be difficult to adjust with taper though).

Anyway, stirrups are lighter and foot loops.

It's just interesting that we have a major trend with one sticking and platform climbing with aiders, but pages on fall and shock loading potential, when the inch worm approach takes much of that out of the equation.

I would think there's been some exploration of tethered aid climbing, so I'm guessing it's too cumbersome or slow. Same gripes you hear about 2TC, without the advantage of it fitting in a pocket.

im not sure yet might like leg hooking better .but bigger trees though .i should wait to try some real soft shackles.instead of just tyin my own knots.if you have to think about it than you are not realy ok with it.and shouldnt do it .but for now i will practice low with it.till i get some .or go back to my carabiner

Man that was pretty fast and smooth.untill I get some amsteel to play with.thsts my foot tether.i see why Sam and red like blasting this system to people..once you dial in your system and practice a little.you start to wounder why you always caried the other stuff when the tethers where enough.funner than poking snakes with a stick

VT and Michoacan work. This past season I used the Michoacan and like it better. The Autoblock is a safety. To date I've had no trouble with a saddle, ropes or hardware. If one of those did fail the safety keeps me in the tree and it's very easy to tie even with one hand. Additionally, if you are using a ATC it will keep the rope to the right.
Very nice set up North, you make the 2 TC look smooth and effortless. Sorry for the stupid question but what does VT stand for?

thank you im a little self neglectfull but if i dont try stuff i wont know if it works.i want to be safe but i push the bar.im still going to try some soft shackles and amsteel but i realy like this.besides i just shed 6 and 3/4 pounds of my climbing gear.so i can afford the weight of a couple carabiners.works with a quick link to.my saddle with the 2 teathers is 1 3/4 pounds.the nature of tall 35 40 year old fir trees is to still have a pedastool of branches about 18 feet up and another about 22 feet up.wanna thank you and red for convencing me i could be in atree for under 2 pounds.and it dont need branches for me to climb.now i can use the same gear on all the hunts and ditch the whole sling pack.add it to backpacking hunts .and more tree opertunities for elkhunts where i only climbed branches of shorter firs because i never took a climbing system elk hunting just the saddle.a month ago i still hated ropes.so thank you you crazy noodlers

Trying to 2TC today and this is not working.
I think the issue is my Dryad saddle.
Taking a 16" step up on the aider, raising the saddle tether taking out all of the slack and sitting down in the hammock, I am losing 10". The other issue is I have to grab the edge of the hammock material with both hands to insure I land in the hammock. This is a lot of fiddle factor.
I tried extending the saddle tether up the tree a little more, but then the waist belt rides up making it harder to land in the hammock when you sit down. Taking a 16" step and going back down 10", it is going to take a long time to get up the tree.
This saddle using steps or sticks works great, but for 2TC I need to try something else.
Any ideas???

No experience with the dryad but it definitely sounds like a saddle issue. Someone else with a Dryad may have a better solution but a cheap-ish rock climbing harness could be used during the climb/descent to remove any stretch.
