Treesuit platform
Good thought. Did the original treesuit climbing aid have a cable or did it hang from a tether? I can't recollect.
I was thinking something like a flat \_/ shaped plate that could be adjusted widthwise to snug the tree would provide some left and right balance and prevent swinging around the tree. Rig lines to an eye to give it stability. (I suppose that would be difficult to adjust with taper though).
Anyway, stirrups are lighter and foot loops.
It's just interesting that we have a major trend with one sticking and platform climbing with aiders, but pages on fall and shock loading potential, when the inch worm approach takes much of that out of the equation.
I would think there's been some exploration of tethered aid climbing, so I'm guessing it's too cumbersome or slow. Same gripes you hear about 2TC, without the advantage of it fitting in a pocket.
