I'm hoping to hear more about the Wood Tree Saddle(s) from those who attend. Seems more pliable and compressible than others, but not much word on the street so to speak.

I have a very comfortable saddle, but it's somewhat bulky.
Plebe you didn’t hear it from me but WTS is nothing special. In fact the rumor is that the owner makes you sign a nondisclosure agreement when you purchase…. Basically stating if you don’t have anything nice to say about it, that you can’t say anything at all hence no one is posting on it

So far, my party is only me, but I am trying to get some others including my wife as well as 3 young adult men that I want to get into hunting. (All 4 are experience shooters and all will have hunting licenses if they hunt and I will be responsible for them.) My first goal with them is to get them really interested in hunting, and saddle hunting is a secondary goal. I have told them that if they come out on Saturday, I do want them to watch the saddle hunting equipment and procedure demos that will take around lunchtime. (I have two full sets of tree saddle gear that I can demo for them and for you.) As far as hunting I have told those that I want to come with me that we can hunt squirrels or hogs. I will probably steer my new hunters (if they show) towards hunting squirrels from the ground, since their chance of seeing and harvesting squirrels is much greater than their chance of harvesting hogs (and success makes things fun). Since Lake George WMA is 38,642 acres I figure our small Florida saddlehunter.com meetup group will have plenty of acreage so my hunt from the ground squirrel hunters won't bother the hog hunters.

...
So besides the obvious of just meeting like minded people what are u guys hoping to gain from attending?
I am hoping to:
1.) learn some new things from other saddle hunters,
2.) Share some of what I have learned with others (I have two nice saddle hunting setups that I could demo),
3.) Introduce some new hunters that I am trying to bring with me to hunting and saddle hunting,
4.) Meet some new people and have fun.

FL Canopy Stalker, please check the following and let us know whether I am correct or wrong.

• The 1600 Lake George Rd, Seville, FL 32190 address was provided, but it is for PINE ISLAND CAMPGROUND & MARINA.

• I think FL Canopy Stalker has reservation at Lake George Pine Island Campsite of St Johns River WMD which is at 845 Lake George Road, Seville, FL 32190.

Since there is 1.4miles between the two sites we should make sure everyone knows where we are camping and meeting. I think we are camping and meeting at at Lake George Pine Island Campsite of St Johns River WMD which is at 845 Lake George Road, Seville, FL 32190. The website says “The address to this campsite is 845 Lk. George Rd. (County Road 305), Seville, FL. The entrance to this area is located on County Road 305, 1/4 mile west of the Truck Trail 2 Road, approximately 2.75 miles west of Seville.”

Yes if you enter 1518 lake George rd Seville Fl 32190 in your gps, it will stop you directly across the street from the camp ground entrance. There’s a large parking area for everyone. We will try to set up the demos along the tree lines so that there’s room for those who are camping to set up their camp sites. But yes the directions you posted are correct

I vote @cpeaden as assistant event host/planner. I really appreciate your generosity and attention to detail. Plus, I can use all the help I can get. Story of my life...

I live on the other side of the lake near Fort McCoy, so I am planning on driving over today to scout out a good demo area. If I remember correctly, the pine island campground is pretty small and locals live there year around. I remember hunting over there a few years ago and there was a primitive area with a large cover pavilion up the road from pine Island campground.

BUT... FL Canopy Stalker is the event host, so it's his call. I am just heading over to put eye on, drive the roads and maybe scout hunt a little.

I dropped a pin at the "primitive campground" up the road from Pine Island Marina.
Large grass parking area, large cover pavilion, and lots of trees. NO RUNNING WATER. PORTOJOHN.

That area where your pin dropped is where we were planning the demo event. Room for parking, the pavilion for lunch and that area is part of the pine island camp ground. The access road should be gated with a lock. As far as the rest goes, there’s a ton of great places to hunt down there but I’ll warn everyone not every road on On-X is still a road or trail down there anymore. Some were recut and shaped after thinning over the years. So what looks good or looks like you can hunt according to On-X, is not necessarily accurate in 2022

Yep, correct. 845 Lake George Rd, Seville. I called Karen (site manager) and she said according to the group permit, it's the primitive area.

It is the primitive area. It’s the entire pine island camp ground. All camping there is primitive. There’s no RV or trailer camping allowed
