Heater Body suit/ IWOM

I have a heater body suit but I do not think that it would work in a saddle. If I was going to buy one of the two I would get the IWOM for saddle hunting. You could roll it just passed saddle when you're sitting in it and then when you get up in tree you could unroll it and just leave the feet open.

I used an iwom xt for 5 sits this season in my sit drag setup. While I do like the garment for warmth, it is incredibly loud against most barks (especially maple and oak). It makes a loud Velcro like sound as you try to move around the tree.

I replaced it with the first lite sanctuary system. It’s the same price but much more versatile. I wear the bibs unzipped when I walk in, and keep the jacket packed up. I climb the tree, cool off, then put the jacket on. It’s much easier than trying to work the iwom around my bridge. Equal in warmth, much more functional and deadly quiet. That’s just been my experience with the iwom.

Cheers,

I should follow up that I did try an iwom in a saddle. I cut slits in the side to run my bridge out. I also found the iwom very noisy against the tree and I did not like it for saddle hunting.

Maybe we can get the owner of heater body suit to design one just for saddles or maybe one of you do it yourself guys can make one.

Bowhunter41002 modified a HBS, there are pics earlier in this thread. I actually bought it from him (and his Evolution) for my son. We haven' used it yet as it is currently hidden in a closet to be wrapped and place under the tree tonight, but I looked it over when I first got it and I think it will work well in a saddle.

I usually use the iwom when it gets below 25 degrees. I’ve always used it in a traditional tree stand with the bottom zipped closed. Super warm down to below zero. I did a 6 hour sit in the saddle wearing my iwom. It was 10 degrees. I was in a Kestrel with an xop platform and a couple Stepps This was the first time I used it In a saddle. It worked great. The holes in the side made it easy to run the bridge through. I didn’t think it was very loud against the tree (there is some noise) and I don’t have a better alternative for hunting in cold weather. I kept the bottom unzipped so I could move around the tree and my feet did feel the cold some.

Nope, never tried it. Lol

IWOM, the only way I can handle below 20 for long.

what is that light grey cord you are using for a bridge?
looks like 1/8" diameter

I hunted the last 4 days here in Missouri using a Tethrd Mantis and Heater Body Suit.
I was not as flexible (in movement) on the platform but it was incredibly warm.
Temps were in the high teens and low 20s in the morning and I hunted the entire day (never left the tree) on Sunday (resulted in harvesting a doe).
You can hunt in the HBS and a saddle but it does impact versatility of movement on the platform (of note - I'm using a Lone Wolf Assassin platform but I think the Predator would work as well).

Did you put it over your Mantis or did you put your Mantis over it ? Pics would be great.

I put it over the Mantis.
Sorry I didn't take pics but will be back out in the 20 degree cold this weekend and post.
I was worried I'd look like a blob in the tree but climbed high (20 feet or so) and had good back cover.
Again it does impact ability to move around the stand but the warmth allows me to hunt all day in almost any cold temps.

I’ve looked at the IWOMs for a long time. I was about set on one but the noise part bothers me. Are they that bad? I mean you’re not leaning against the tree like with a normal tree stand.

I’ve also looked at the Sitka Incinerator outer gear but dang that’s expensive.

I felt the same way. I was gonna buy an IWOM but some of the posts commenting about noise scared me off.
I guess "noise" is a relative term. A gun hunter can get away with stuff that we trad hunters cannot get away with. I swear deer under 20 yards can hear my eyes blink and my heart pound.

Exactly! I'm just so sick of layering up a ton. It would be nice to just walk in, halfway wear the IWOM, then climb and zip in for warmth.
