Pacseat mods: Putting the 'pack' in Pacseat, & other things

How tall are ya? I’ve got mine on my lap right now with a tubing cutter at my side lol.

It seems really hard to remove the feet! Any tips?
I'm 5' 8"... 30" inseam.

To remove the feet I jammed a flathead screwdriver in between the rubber and the tubing in a few spots until it loosened up.

By the looks of those small tubing pcs, You didn't seem very confident. I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Twist em w/a pair of pliers. If you have to cut them, 1" chair legs @ the hardware.

I tore up one of them. That glue they use works really well lol.

I ended up doing a full 3” chop on the legs and the U bar. That’s about as much as you can go before the feet start to get into the bend of the front legs. I’m really happy with it!

I got a couple hours of sit time outside by a fire. The 3” chop has made the seat bar not dig into the legs so much. I really need to get one of those blow up seats a few of you have.

I tried the pool noodle foam on the front bar, no help. Then ordered a blow up tube. It leaked so bad I sent it back and cut my legs off.....

You'll like the blow up pillow. The key is to inflate it fully and then let air out while sitting on it until your sit bones are slightly off the shade material. The whole thing should feel squishy; not firm.

Let me start by saying I’m a “prospective purchaser” of this seat. May get one before next season. Would it be possible to reconnect the tubing of a seat with conduit couplers? I don’t know what size the tubing is, but seems like this would possibly work? That way you could have a lower sitting seat for still hunts, or couple it back up and have the larger seat for blind stands. Any thoughts from you all that have cut your full size ones down?

A 1" coupler would maybe fit but just another spot to squeak. If u cut one down you'll not even notice the difference once it's done.

So you’re saying just get the turkey style from the start? I don’t do much blind hunting anyways.

I cut one down 3". But I normally use the tall one. I have a turkey seat but like to be a little higher during deer season to see.
Thanks. I’m not sure which I’ll go with, likely the full size and chop from there. I likely won’t use it to turkey hunt anyways as I’m more of a “run and gun” style hunter and find I’m only sitting at the base of a tree for short stretches.

Lol. I think the trick is to put the padding after the tube to raise your legs above it. A 1” foam pad does the trick for me now that it’s 3” lower. The problem is the foam squeaks on the seat material.

Does the blow up cushion make noise on the newer seat fabric?

I haven't experienced noise. The blow up pillow I have is plastic but it also came with a fabric cover. Don't notice noise when rotating around practicing a weak side shot.

I'm sure you could use a PVC coupler to add height if needed.

Will it change how it leans on trees? That is my go to method with the pack seat is the lean.
I'd like to revisit your question since revisiting a particular tree after cutting down the front legs. Went back to the large tree in post #105 and it just wasn't the same experience. You can see how the tree's roots extend above ground for a couple inches at the base of the tree. Well the shorter legs wouldn't allow me to lean the pacseat back without going full gangster. I eventually got into the seat but it was leaned waaaay back.

All other trees have been good so far though.

That would be my worry, tree roots. That is the reason many seats don’t work for me where I hunt, the tree roots stick up out of the ground too high.

I just got mine and replace the bottoms with something that won’t sink into soft dirt. I tried to post a picture but couldn’t get one to post.
