Pacseat mods: Putting the 'pack' in Pacseat, & other things

Good for puzzles too I guess. I added a game bag to the back, and use it for kill kit.

Maybe this was asked already but does anyone know the difference in height between the regular and turkey seat WHEN FOLDED on your back? I am so tempted to chop mine down but I’m worried I will regret it when I’m in the tall grass of early season.

I do not have your answer but I’m going to chop 5” off the legs on mine. I’ll have to redrill the rear legs for the bolts but I’m going to do it. It’s just too tall for my liking.

I Just Put More Pack in my Pac Seat by Adding a Meat Shelf. Works Well to Sit my Pack on it and Bungee on. Used Aluminum for Shelf and Hook Bolts so no Holes Drilled if it didn't Work but I Like it.I Think it Will Work Well for Quarters Also. I'll Let You Know Next Sept.Resized_20230205_181156_4362 (1).jpeg

Another way you can go with the seat & a meat shelf-I just couldn't get comfortable walking long distances with the seat right against my back (I have arthritis in my back.) It would find those special tender spots & just dig in!

But I LOVE my Pacseat! So what I did was remove the shoulder straps & waist belt-easy enough, & they can be re-attached if needed. Then I just use the compression straps on my backpack to attach the seat, & I'm off! My pack has a built-in meat shelf (Mystery Ranch guidelite frame)

Here's a photo of my ground hunting rig:

The deer didn't notice the 3" off. Can't say that I did either except it does get your head a little lower in the weeds, I recommend it.

I will have to chop mine then! If I remember right there are wood dowels inside the pipes right? Did those pop out easily? You had to make 4 cuts, 2 on the front legs and two on the back “u” shaped pipe?

Bringing this back to top!

My mod really isn’t a mod at all….I just removed the backpack straps and waist belt. I strap it directly to my trusty Eberlestock F1 Mainframe (elk hunter/western hunter must have!!!!). If I want to saddle hunt, I swap it out for platform, steps, and saddle! Easy Peasy!

Two weeks until opening day for elk up here in Colorado!

Good luck to everyone, especially those of you who hunt from their level! Have a blessed day.

Carried mine in just like that. Sat in 5* weather for four hours and shot this one at 7 steps from the pac seat with my bow.

Drew with him 30 yards out, walking to an easy 20 yard shot broadside. Turned instead and walked right to me. He hit my scent and froze. Knew he made a mistake.

In other news, I walked for two hours with the chair on my back like that, knocking snow on myself every time it caught a branch. Finally pulled it off the shelf and strapped to front of pack.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

@Blacksmith and @Nutterbuster gave me the motivation needed to cut my original seat down some. Turns out Goldilocks DOES exist! :D

Ended up taking 2" off the front legs a little bit at a time (1" + .5" + .5"). May do more at some point but I want to take it afield before reducing height further. Didn't take any off the rear. Didn't see the need to since there's plenty length in the strap to lean the rear arm down already. Not cutting the rear also means it still folds up flush with the top of the chair back the way it always has.

I'd like to exhort anyone considering do this mod to go for it. Don't know why but it took me a long time to convince myself I wasn't going to jack up a high dollar piece of equipment. If I can do it, you can too!

Will it change how it leans on trees? That is my go to method with the pack seat is the lean.

Will what change the way it leans on trees? Cutting down the front legs? Or keeping the rear legs their original length?

Shorter front legs seems like it might be a little harder to lean on trees with big roots. Maybe not idk.
Ah. Right on. Yeah I leaned it against two separate trees today to get a feel for whether it is low enough now. Didn't notice anything adverse so far. In fact, think I like this thing better now because it fits my legs.

How tall are ya? I’ve got mine on my lap right now with a tubing cutter at my side lol.

It seems really hard to remove the feet! Any tips?
