Received my new foot loop from CGM. Made the Amstel out of 1/4". Will give 2TC a go this summer.

I can use this with 2TC, which I am going to try.
I can use this with sticks or steps see link. Steps are my #1 at this time.

What s the name of this climbing method?

Does anyone know the name for this climbing method or who invented it?

Did my first 2tc to day.it was cool.since I have to go over branches and don't like to carry things I'm not using.i decided instead of leaving my linemen in my pocket till I get to a branch.i will climb with it and hook both sturips to the bottom tether.i strattle the tree with it and it's like there steps on the sides.move tether up, move foot tether up stand on it and adjust linemens.then move tether up again.like a climbing stand.its realy sturdy.seems super simple for branches.seems promising

it was closer to this but i was using my line mens belt to make it easyer to move the top teather up

This has been around for a long time. I always wondered what it would be like with a metal climbing aid with some kind of toothy V or maybe multiple contact points (sorta like a WE step) replacing that straight piece of wood.

That ain't going to go well on bigger trees, for sam.

Yeah that's why I used a linemen while moving the uper tether up.and I put my knees against the tree instead of straddling it.slow progress but it's fun.and goes from 10 pounds of gear to 3and a 1/2.....side note .it was no sweat .you are just standing or sitting.never realy balancing or holding your own weight. coming down was super simple.just dont over stretch.still needs refining before i try it drunk

1 and 3/4 .lbs. together

1/2lb.foot tether,and 1 1/4lb.ring of steps.my saddle is 3/4 of a pound.my linemens a half lb. and tether is a half lb.3 1/2 lbs.is nice enough for the ultra light backpacking setup

That elk rump decoy is 3/4of a pound wet.without the sticks of course.i won't carry those.but this set up fits in my fanny pack.a goal of mine for years

Your posts have me thinking and also staring out at the snow waiting for it to melt.

Instead of having (2) separate foot straps, couldn't you do a single continuous loop? Then using the 2nd tether, connect this continuous loop to the tether via a prusik or mechanical and biner?
