Carrying in Hawk Heliums option: Yoga Mat straps?

Every set up I've tried with packs always ends up either not secure or too much for the brushy areas I occasionally hunt. Wondered if there was a way to refit/re-purpose a strap like they make for carrying rolled up Yoga mats. Has anyone ever tried carrying in your sticks this way?

Getting spray paint smell off sticks?

Did a camo paint job on my Heliums and the smell of spray paint can be wiffed from 15yds away. Anyone have any tricks or hacks to expedite the scent control other than leaving them outdoors for 2 to 14 weeks?

Saddle safety redundancy systems (what do you do?)

I'm doing some research and I think others may want to learn from it as well. I've seen many folks have a redundancy safety system (second prussic knot, double bridge, etc) Just curious what different folks do to have a back up in case of one-point of failure? If you don't do anything extra...

Stopping "sag" from haulers on Mantis?

I carry a SYS Hauler on one side with my tether and another Hauler on the other side with my step of rings and strap on hooks. My Mantis sags from all the weight and even when tightened. Any suggestions?

I need a new platform. Long story but short version is I'm willing to try any platform someone is will to part with (maybe you changed or upgraded).

    RECOIL Carnivore magazine article

New issue on newsstands of RECOIL Carnivore magazine has great article featuring Greg Godfrey of Mantis and John Eberhart. It's a real nice magazine by the publishers of RECOIL.

Bullman Silent Approach platform (releasing strap issue)?

Has anyone had this problem? After a little tree time for practice, I went to take release the ratchet strap but had spaced out the individual steps in such a way that I could not get the ratchet open all the way to 180deg. So I can't get the ratchet to release and its so tight I can't move...

    WTB: gently used Mantis Recliner?

Some folks have tried it and loved it or didn't like it at all. If you were one of the latter, I'd buy yours if you are selling.

What's new on the saddle horizon?

OK guys; for most of us, season is over. I'm spending the next couple of months tweaking, modifying and getting new gear for my set up. Anything new on the horizon folks are looking forward to? What is going to be the next "cutting edge" stuff for saddle hunters? Will it be some new...

A "Bow" or "Bow Hunting" forum category?

I know many folks may hunt with rifles or crossbows during the season and I know that there are other "site forums" that cover archery, but maybe a forum category that is specifically about saddle hunting bow hunting (bows, gear, etc)?

Anyone ever use "Huntin Fool" service (or other like it)?

Company helps with licencing and what-not for hunting in western states, etc. I know you can just DIY with most of these hunts but for someone that just hunts southeast whitetails and hogs like myself, this help would be a boon.

    Magazine coverage of saddle hunting?

As I search, I find very little coverage in the outdoor/hunting magazines about saddle hunting specifically. Some website for the major outlets have had blogs about them, but has anyone seen good quality coverage in the national magazines related to saddle hunting?

How high on 3 Hawk Helium sticks?

How high can you guys get on 3 Hawks with no "aiders and snaiders"? What is your best tactic for getting the most height out of your sticks? I found that if I place my next (or first) stick too much higher than my knee, it is really hard to get my big bulk to step on to the first step to...

    Practice tree

Spent a couple minutes climbing and clearing the limbs and made myself a great practice tree in my woods. I’m thinking I will leave my unmodified wolf sticks and bull steps on the tree so I can climb up quickly for a quick practice. Note: I think the bulls steps are great! I don’t get any...

Climbing to prep some trees? Stay on lineman's or tether?

I have a tree or two I want prep just for practice shooting and some for next season. I figure I can climb up with my Wolf sticks and so some sawing but wonder if any of you guys go ahead and tether instead? Sounds like it might be more mobile to reach around for branches but harder to get...

Hanging your Wolf sticks off your Mantis for the climb.

So I got some S carbiners and ties to hang my sticks off my Mantis as I climb (I use three sticks). Do you guys recommend hanging one stick off each hip (off the molle) or both on same side? This has always been my biggest issue. bringing the sticks up with me (I use a total of 3 for now).

Anybody squirrel hunt from their saddle?

Seems counter-intuitive since you're up in the trees but wonder if it provides some opportunities to slam unwary busytails.

Any tips/best practices for getting permissions for Urban Archery?

Our state (NC) has some towns that offer an Urban Archery season which extends quite a bit past regular season. Some towns are about an hour from me and I'm trying to figure out how to get permission on properties that are located in the Urban Archery zones. I know most are probably already...

WTB: your used SMALL hunting pack.

Anyone have a used smaller day-pack style pack they are looking to part with? Something small but that I might still be able to stuff a coat into. I have a larger pack that I use for general hunting but I've noticed it is to cumbersome for my tree saddle set up (and gets a little crowded in...
