FAS PACK……reviews and thread for ideas

So I found the best way to secure the Predator pack is with the bottom two G hooks ran across the top of the pack. View attachment 78936

Also try moving both your Molle Talons to the top & if that works I’ll send you two additionals for the bottom. Another option is to exchange the Molle Talons for our new Webbing Talons they have less range of motion. Unfortunately pack and stick mating requires tinkering to get that prefect fit. There is no one method fits all.

Yeah I figured that, just going to keep tinkering. I’ll try that with the predator straps and moving the other talon to the top and report back

That’s got me thinking on how I’ve been attaching mine. I’m thinking they may work better running horizontally. I’ll cut the straps down once I figure out how I’ll carry it.

I’m not a hater, I’m really not,I love Tethrd and the people. BUT… I just think that at that price, and given the fact that it isn’t just a pack, it’s a pack DESIGNED for SHs buy SHs…. There should be a very good stick holding and carrying feature.

ya know? There are so many awesome well thought out design features and I’d gladly pay that price for all of those features but only if it carried sticks like a champ as well.

Really, I don’t think you could load the pack up enough to need a waist belt, but a compression strap works ok as one. The waist strap is about mid stomach on me, I’m 6ft tall.

The compression straps hold the sticks as well as anything else could. It’s pretty simple and easy. I don’t know of any other way one could attach the sticks to it. The open pockets on the side are designed for gear and not sticks. So you couldn’t use those.

Don't necessarily need a big loaded pack to need/want a waist belt. Once you use/have a pack with one you won't go want to go without, even in a small pack.

Nice to be able to climb over or weave through blow downs through thick cover and swamps like where I hunt and have the pack remain on your back where it belongs, rather than it want to slide around, off shoulders etc. Maybe not such a big deal for open terrain. Lastly to have whatever weight is in pack supported by your waist rather than shoulders is a huge plus.

No belt= big miss for the FAS Pack. IMO

Yes shoulder straps always loosen, put on pack then tighten down. We ain’t in high school no more, pack are meant to ride against your back.

I'm not so sure. I like a gap. And a waist belt. And a lumbar pad.

Gap keeps me cooler
Belt shifts weight to hips
Lumbar pad creates gap, and disrupts pendulum effect.

A pack with those attributes would have been gold in my high school days. Jansport and LL Bean, come on man.

Now, they only carry a laptop and vape pen. Tethrd, here's your FAS Pack market. lol.

Looks like a floppy sack.

"I think what I'm gonna do is spend another $200 on a platform pack. Bcuz I just spent $400 on this and I need the room for just the platform".

"Perfect".... I wouldn't make it 10' into the woods I hunt with sticks packed like that...

C’mon, man. Those were 14 inchers! LOL.

The more I read on this pack
The more I think it’s best suited for short hikes to the stand with minimal weight and gear OR riding an e-bike. Yes it’s modular and additional storage can be added, BUT just bc there are attachment slots doesn’t mean you should use them. Many times it throw load balance off, especially with no belt.

I’m curious of user thoughts that are packing platform on rear of pack sandwiched 8 pounds of sticks. With a load in the main pack compartment, it seems the load would be wagging like a tail.

Thanks for posting…I have some thoughts nobody asked for: firstly, this review was awfully fanboyish. Saddle fanboy, brand fanboy, Joe-Rogan-taught-me-about-hunting kinda fanboyish. And who really thinks your pack for treestand hunting (especially in a .5) needs to be different than your pack for saddle hunting? Not to mention he said he was going “on a saddle hunt”, like it’s something different than going on a normal hunt. But that petty stuff aside aside, It was hard enough watching him unload that Wolf Pack (possibly the finest backpack made for mobile hunting) and stuff the FAS to the brim with crap leaning all over the place, but then it only got worse listening to how great the pack was despite being completely unwearable for this gentleman.
Seemed like a guy who didn’t want to admit it mightn’t have been a $400+ well-spent and Tethrd mightn’t have hit a home run on this one.

Ropes, straps, misc...depending on the weather and situation, i will use this on my back for saddle hunting or on my beast stand...but i recently set up a predator xl pack with a BWMG hitchhiker attached to the back and im Loving it for saddle hunting early bow season

This is the set up, i have now taken it apart and am having a couple more molle strips added to the backside of the pack to better weave on the predator xl pack
