Lightweight Barren ridge platform

just emailed them and begged for a 2 pound hang on platform big enough to stand and turn on.

My brother got the camo version, and I just got the black one in today. The camo one has a serious alignment issue on the left side. You really have to bend it back to shove the pin through. My black one has more of an issue with the hole being off a bit. That should be an easy fix with a drill and bit. Another thing too is the camo one has a very strong paint odor. It's surprisingly strong, so if you're interested in getting the camo version, go ahead and buy now so it can air out before next season (seriously). I look forward to putting them through their paces after Thanksgiving.

Yes, I got the black with plans of doing the sponge camo paint job. It's sitting at home now, but I'm working down in FL. Can't wait to give it a try once I get home.

I've made a 98% carbon fiber platform with a few aluminum teeth, been using it for 9 hunts and will do a post on it soon. It's my second version and already I have alot more improvements to make on my 3rd attempt this offseason.
I only said this because it's so light I use it as my foot rest for 2 tether climbing in practically the same manner as this...but it's as big as a mission platform. Will post some photos tonight.
My attachment method is a 2nd tether with carabiner and hitch.
However I have stopped using it in this manner as It can be quite noisy, so i just use as a regular platform when i get to hunting height.

Hurry up!

I gave mine a sponge paint job today. I wonder how they drilled the holes, mine are off also but they still work.

For the money the holes should line up perfect as I wonder if your bending it to get the holes to line up aren’t you putting unnecessary torque on it? I do want to get one but I’m hoping they work out some bugs first

I just ordered the Alpha. KY bow season goes to Jan. 18.
Per lone wolf, platform only weighs 9.5 Lbs.
More then I wanted, but I have big feet.

rutjr How is it with side pressure?

I’m very tempted to buy one and try it out.
I think if you stealth stripped it and added some rubber grommets like someone mentioned earlier, this may be the ticket for me.

Aside from the Barren Ridge video, are there any others out there? I wasn’t able to find any.

I’m going to attempt a “catch all response” in regards to the most popular questions and concerns:

- in regards to the alignment issue of the holes, the alignment hole is drilled prior to powder coating. The alignment is a by product of the heat treating portion of the powder coating process; we have addressed this issue and fix the conflict.
- side pressure: this is a climbing platform, we cannot advise that you stand anywhere other than the top of the stand as our platform is not fixed permanently to the tree. Treat it as a climbing treestand.
-we understand the price is steep- all of our products are made in America. Our powder coating and welding are done by businesses in our county.
- we get a PILE of questions about limbs and larger trees. The goal of the stand was to be portable and mobile and to fit a variety of backpacks. For its size, it limited the variation of trees, so we came out with two additional cables to increase its functionality. The larger and smaller cables workee very well in our testing phase (comment back to let me know how they did!). As for limbs- were fortunate to be in an area where the vast majority of trees are telephone poles. It is a climber, so it has its limitations.
- were continuously and adamantly working through the kinks you guys give us through your feedback on here and other social media platforms. Please continue to comment here, on Facebook, and Instagram and I will do everything I can to get back to you in a timely fashion. Or, you can contact us personally, we love hearing from y’all good, bad, and indifferent. Good luck huntin!

Thanks for the quick reply.
I’ll probably wait until late season or the off-season to give it a try, but certainly willing to pay more for a US made product.

How easy would be it be to convert to the LW belt and connecting system vs the pond and cables? I have a broken hand climber as a donor!!

@Aaron Sheets
There is some mention of the pins and being noisey. A climber I have made by Cougar Claw adds a plastic washer and then some heat shrink to the two portions of the pin as shown. It really is simple and does wonders to mitigate noise from the pin. Of course, if your hole tolerance is too tight this might not work well. Just a suggestion!

I imagine this thread will likely get moved to the vendor section based on vendor interaction. One of the Mods will likely be around to give you your vendor badge too!

Welcome to the site and good luck with your venture. Thanks for taking the leap to bring something purpose driven to the saddle hunting community.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one. Some review and updates from me. First of all, the product arrived very quickly. But like another person mentioned, the holes weren't lined up right. I called them and they fixed it instantly - a new one was shipped right away and arrived in a couple of days! This one worked just as advertised.

I used it for the first time yesterday and overall liked it, with the one caveat that I had a hard time keeping the buckles on and getting them back on when my foot slipped out. I plan to add some plastic sleeves to the sides to stiffen then up so I can easily slide my foot back in.
