I haven't seen many on public and the handful I have seen were perched over illegal bait piles. I will avoid getting my picture taken by them if at all possible. I consider the presence of a camera as a sign of hunting pressure and figure it into my thought process regarding hunts like I would a fixed stand.
I run a few on public but I go deep, like 3/4 mile minimum from a road and I cross water. They are cheap cameras, and I would not be at all surprised if one grew legs. If I leave them out and they get stolen, that is a possibility I factored into my decision to run them and leave them out. I count on people's laziness as the main deterrent to having them stolen. I also hide them really well. So well, in fact, I am pretty sure I have lost one, not that it got stolen, lol.
