Scentlok or Sitka or First Lite?

I’ve looked into them as well. I just couldn’t find anything about wind resistance
They're not wind resistant, and that's why people scratched their heads at the $299 price tag. The Stratus series have similar warmth but have windstopper. But by the time I'm considering whether or not I need windstopper I just put on the Fanatic bibs and open all the vents.

So I got a new(actually preowned but never used with tag) HuntWorth midweight hoodie today. I got to say, I'm VERY impressed. It was by far the most quiet material I have ever had in my life. It was also well made, and warm. Seriously I started rubbing it and then rub it against every single hunting clothes I have and the difference was unbelievable. I don't know what material blend they used but I'm really impressed. I have not have the chance to touch Sitka or other high end stuff, but right now I'm really impressed with HuntWorth and might be going that route for pants.

First post, figured I'd jump in. Just moved to VA from AZ and I'm originally from Ohio, so back to east coast deer hunting for me. Appreciate all of the info I've gathered on here as I jump into saddle hunting for the first time ever, should be interesting.

As far as camo is concerned, I balked at Sitka and Kuiu prices myself for a long time. I got big into predator hunting in AZ so once the summer heat broke, we'd be out every single weekend fall through spring hunting anywhere from 4-8 hours a day. I bought a set of Sportsman's Warehouse Killik gear and it was OK but the fit left a lot to be desired and we would put a lot of miles in walking from the truck to our stand/s and with how much we were hunting I was considering taking the jump to a better camo.

I finally decided to do it and went with Kuiu since I liked their Valo pattern over any of Sitka's (and frankly their clothes seem a little more modern to me) and I dropped the coin on a pair of pants, lightweight long sleeve, puffy vest, and a light jacket. I can tell you that as soon as I put all of that stuff on, I instantly said to myself "Ohhhh, now I get it". The comfort, fit, and overall thought put into the pieces are just great and I was so much more comfortable in the field. I'm now a Kuiu believer and will be purchasing their Proximity line for late season hunts this year. Anxious to give that line a try.

That's one of my concern. I have only hunted out of my Army Issued multicam uniform pants ever. I just layer under them with polypros and my PT uniform as the temperatures required just like I did in the Army. Its very 'ignorance is bliss' with me because they have served me well and I dont have any complaint with them. I'm looking for a pant that I can wear almost all season, and just layer underneath it, if that unicorn exist.

I just ordered a pair of Kuiu's Attack Pant in the Valo camo since the other pair I already have are a different set and a solid color. I can say that the pair I have now are awesome and were great for western hunts where you're doing a ton of walking/hiking. I think the Attack Pants will be great for the woods here in VA and should offer enough room to layer a poly pro or something similar underneath.

I know what you mean though, I'm still active duty and I wish my cammies fit like my Kuiu stuff, haha.

I have the same hoodie and I have to agree with you on Huntworth. I also bought the Huntworth Elkins pants, jacket, and vest and also their really cool Shelton midweight hoodie. I feel I can wear this pretty much throughout deer season. I also bought their new Saskatoon pants and coat with Heat Boost for when it gets really cold. When these products showed up I was very impressed with the feel and quality of each particular piece of clothing. I have so many options now with being able to layer as needed. This all comes after finally retiring my set of Walls Duxback bibs and coat I purchased new in 1994.

I pulled the trigger and bought Sitka Fanatic jacket and bibs last year. I have to say, I wear a pair of sweatpants and a long sleeve t-shirt, and that is it under that. It is by far the warmest I have ever worn.

I always say, "buy once cry once" lol. If you're able to, I always say buy quality....because you buy "quantity" you will end up paying twice as much in the long run. I hunt a lot of woods and it has a fair share of briars, and haven't noticed any of it fraying away

I had the opportunity to buy Sitka at 40% off, yet I chose to go with Huntworth. After trying on Sitka, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. After looking at and trying on the Fanatic coat and bibs I was turned off by two things: the fabric will collect every burr and stick tight it can, plus it was really heavy in overall weight which is not a plus if you are hiking in any significant distance.

The newer fanatic doesn’t have the Berber fleece on the lower portion of the legs or arms and is less prone to taking burrs.

I tried the Huntworth Fairbanks and it was the noisiest peice of clothing I ever had. Like I was walking around in a giant Doritos bag.

I had ordered the Huntworth Fairbanks coat and bibs and didn't notice any problems with it, it passed the scratch noise test, didn't make a sound, but, the day after I received that ensemble, they came out with their new Heat Boost offering in Saskatoon Tarnen, so I ordered that. The bulk was significantly reduced. I won't have an opinion on it for a couple of months, but as of right now it looks, feels, and sounds really good.

Take a hard look at Pnuma ~ underrated big time in my opinion. I have pieces from all the big name companies as well as Walmart and Pnuma is the nicest of them all. The Waypoint pants and jacket and simply great. Lightweight, but somehow substantial and windproof to 50mph. I’m slowly selling off my First Lite and moving to all Pnuma. Also, great sizing for tall hunters. I’m 6’4” and most of their XL normal fit great, my buddy is 6’8” and the talls fit him. The pants are both waist and inseam available; like a 36x36. Great gear.

I can't imagine ever walking in with the fanatic set on. I'd be soaked head to toe. I pack it and then the burr issue isn't a problem.

There is some decent duck hunting in my state. I never grew up duck hunting. People as if I duck hunt or if I would like to go. I always say "no". "Why?" they ask, "Because I'm afraid I'll like it, and it's expensive."

Unfortunately, I tried high end hunting clothing....

The original Fanatic didn't have this issue at all and imo was quite a bit nicer. If they had just made it in Open Country.

Any thoughts on the code of silence stuff. Looks okay but I have never tried it out.

That's not been my experience. Is yours one of the one's with the new Aerolite insulation? Maybe that's the difference. idk.

I actually found the Sanctuary very insulated but you end up like the Michelin man, and the reinforced seat was terribly noisy.
I hadn’t worn my sanctuary 1.0 in a couple years. Got out late season on a windless day and dang those noisy patchy areas!

I’ve owned several Sitka pieces and would agree with this statement on most pieces. However, IMO the fanatic hoody is one of the most overrated pieces in the Sitka line. I really tried hard to convince myself to keep it because I spent so much stinking money on it. I wore it several hunts before getting rid of it. It doesn’t do anything better than the Kings hoody and some things not as well.
Traverse hoodie outshines fanatic big time

Sitka should always be 50% off that way when it actually goes on sale it’s priced like it should be

Really comes down to price doesn’t….one way or another. I could afford Sitka simply because I don’t waste my money. I demand that a product quality be commensurate with it’s price or I won’t buy it, I don’t care how much money I have. And your statement kind of sums that up well. Scentlok is routinely on sale at pretty steep discounts and it’s quality/value IMO is decently high at that point. Sitka is 4X as expensive as Scentlok. Is the quality/value 4X that of Scentlok? I don’t know, I’ve never owned Sitka, because I have a hard time believing that it is. What’s your opinion? Is Sitka 4X better? Maybe @enkriss could help us out here.
