What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

You mean you don’t wear crocs to the tree???….:fearscream::screamcat::eek: Lol
Afraid you got me on that one, lol. With the way ticks, chiggers and snakes are around here I want some coverage on my feet. I think if I wore crocs up in the tree my feet would be like hummingbird feeders for mosquitoes! Each hole would be a feed station.

Is your plan to carry your platform in your pack or what’s your plan with that pack?

I have all my gear (first aid, tourniquet, kill kit and such) and saddle in the pack and my sticks on the outside. I’ll have whatever layer I don’t wear strapped on the back.

As far as setup goes, I’m a ROS guy (5 bullman pioneer steps). I have a CRUZR XC with firsrlite suspenders. I have three little S biners around my saddle for hanging my sticks on the climb up. On my right hip I have a beaston roll pouch with rappel kit (I hunt off the rappel line). On my left hip I have my lineman’s belt daisy chained and a dump pouch. First thing in my dump pouch is my tow rope, I hook the bow up and then start my climb. Next is my ROS for when I get to the top. Then it’s my gear hanger and an extra line to hang the tree pad that lives in my pack.

Bought The Fix, .5, and some cable aiders for my doubles.
Checked cams and moved one to a thick spot I haven't hunted in years that backs up to a bean field.
I'm up to 8 different bears on cam and 2 potential shooter bucks from card pulls the last couple months.
Shot my bow

How do you like the Mammut 2.0? I used one all last season and don’t have really any complaints, and it’s pretty quiet too.
so far I like it. I climbed to hunting height yesterday and rappelled down. It was very nerve racking at first lol. Kinda scary! Need more practice thats for sure! It is definitely quiet tho. I added some stealth tape that helped a lot as well.

Went out and did some scouting with my friend. He drew archery quota and was nice enough to let me tag along as a guest.....View attachment 67488View attachment 67489

Most sophisticated public land ground blind setup I've ever found....this took some real thought, prefab, woods construction

The best shoot house I ever saw in the woods. We called it the S#@T house shoot house. A buddy of mine and I left a note on it one time that said "Full. Needs dumping".

I’ve been working out, walking, and trying to manage my weight. I got tired of not being able to walk without getting winded and climbing trees without exhaustion. So far I’ve lost 40 lbs and six pant sizes. I’m actually excited about getting back in the saddle this fall. Everything should be easier than last season.

Shot my bow with some new arrows I built and have never felt this confident with my bow before. Scouted a property I found some beans planted at last weekend and saw 10-15 deer and a bachelor group out in the beans at 1:30 in the afternoon. Found a couple buck beds and a fawn carcass out in the middle of some crp in a bed. Good day overall and working towards a plan for the opener.
