    Quitting coffee

I’m not sure why I’m doing it, probably has something to do with turning 50 this year and starting to face all that comes with getting old, but I’ve decided to eliminate caffeine. I enjoy the whole ritual of having a few cups of coffee in the morning, which I’ve replace with lower caffeinated...

Officially a better turkey hunter now

I'm fairly certain my lack of success in killing a turkey last spring was due to the fact I was not sporting a turkey vest. I've now remedied that problem and purchased a Sitka turkey vest. I believe I'm guaranteed to kill one now, in case anyone wants to tag along and get one of the many...

    New strings surprised me

I just put some new 60X strings on my Bowtech Amplify. Went to the range today to get my sight zeroed in and throws some arrows down range. After only changing the strings, everything else being the same I was shooting groups 6-8 inches high. Not sure why it surprised me but I didn’t expect that...

I’m such a good hunter deer just fall down and die. I don’t even have to shoot them.

So, climbed a tree today and I spy a flash of white roughly 50 yds away. Huh, I thought to myself that looks like a deer belly. I get all settled in and take a peep through the binos and sure enough there lay a dead deer.

After I kill a deer it takes me a couple days to get back into it

Anyone else have this phenomenon? First let me say I’m not a killer of booners, nor am I hugely experienced. I killed 5 deer last year with my bow and I’ve killed 3 this year so far. I love bow hunting and archery, shoot year round. But I’ve noticed that for up to a week or so after a kill one...

Anyone need a bit of help

So, I got the idea from another member doing this, but I ended up doubling up on my renewal this year. To remedy this I’ve decided to apply the renewal to someone that could use the help. If you’re down on your luck, or can’t free up the money to upgrade your membership shoot me a PM. No...

    Taking a short break

I’m taking a two week break from archery, hunting and saddle related activities. I shoot year round, have done my preseason scouting and practice climbs. I think it’s beneficial to think about and do other things before the grind of a season. This summer I decided to learn how to fly fish, so...

People that own a bow press

I’m fairly new to archery/hunting. I’ve set up a little home workshop. I cut and fletch my arrows, monkey around a bit with my bow as well. I’m interested in being able to replace my strings, and do my own work on my bow. Bow presses are pretty expensive. I’m wondering if it’s worth the money...

    Hunting a cornfield

This is my second year bow hunting, and hunting this parcel. Last year it was a canola field. This year it’s going to be a corn field. I’ve an idea of how and where to go when it was canola, but have zero idea how to hunt this as a corn field. The green outline is the property line. The yellow...

Roller slide made a big difference

This may be a dumb post, but as someone newer to saddle hunting/archery I didn’t realize there was a difference between the plastic cable slide and the roller slides. I shoot a Bowtech Amplify and it came with the plastic slide. I recently put a roller slide on and holy cow did it make a...

Set up for a tether and rappelling out

I’m in need of some experienced advice. Last year my hunting set up was 3 climbing sticks, a platform, and an 8’ tether. I’ve decided this year I want to rappel down instead of climbing down my sticks. Im not interested in changing my method of getting up the tree at this point. What I’m...

    Redline Torch 2 pin sight

I’m looking to upgrade my current single pin slider to this Redline Torch 2 pin slider. I can’t find a whole lot of reviews from people that have actually used one, so I’m hoping someone on here has. Anyone used this sight? I’m looking for an honest opinion on the sight. Sent from my iPhone...

    Does it ever end?

Last season was my first for bow hunting from a saddle. In the buildup to the season I was buying gear across 3 categories: bow and arrows, saddle gear, clothing for hunting. I figured that it would be an expensive year, and it was. My mistake was that I thought once I had the necessities...

Some love for Outdoors Made Agile saddle

I haven’t seen much about these saddles on here, so I just wanted to give them some love. I picked one up as an early Christmas present. Took it out today and man was it great. Light weight, comfortable while both sitting and leaning. No metal in the waist belt. This saddle had everything I...

    Tagged out

I’ve been very fortunate and have tagged out on bucks in my first year bow hunting. I still have a couple of doe tags to use though. Went out today and all I saw were bucks. Good lord. Where did all the dang doe’s go? Edit: I was correctly chastised for not providing pictures. Sent from my...

    Ridge Runner platform

Does anyone have any experience with this platform? Out on a Limb makes it. Website says it weighs 3.5 lbs. I’m currently using a XOP platform which works just fine, but seems a bit heavy. I’ll transition the XOP to a preset and use the Ridge Runner for mobile hunting. Sent from my iPad...
