Pacseat mods: Putting the 'pack' in Pacseat, & other things

Do the feet not dig into your back with the chair flipped? I have played with reversing straps to use the seat as a meat shelf, but found that to be a comfort issue.

It seems like the back padding in the Alice waist belt and shoulder straps keeps them away. Also, and probably more importantly, the pack is jacked way up. It’s now about an inch above my head.

You selling this retrofit kit,? LOL.

Had to change the title of this thread a bit since it has turned into a few more things than just my rendition of a meat hauler mod.

Here's another gem... you can raise the carrying height of the seat (on your back) by rolling up the waist belt. Think it sits 4" higher. Hope the pictures below explain better than I can in words. A zip tie on either side keeps it in place nicely.

I've been thinking of moving the bottom anchor point of the shoulder straps down lower on the legs to raise the whole thing higher on my back.

Guess I've been carrying mine wrong. I flipped the shoulder straps over the top and carried it with the seat facing out for a shelf.

And now for an uber-whiz-bang comfort mod...

This $9 pack pillow wedged between the two layers of sunshade material takes the pacseat to a new level of wow. Adding enough air to deploy the "wings" on either side of the existing seat (without inflating the entire thing to max capacity) pulls pressure off the tailbone and allows a more even displacement of weight across the cheeks. It also alleviates the weird pressure I was feeling under my thighs. Again, the pillow itself weighs almost nothing and packs away to nothing!

Truly, this is now a king's chair. Don't believe me? Ask the dishes!

Awesome idea. I ordered one but no Timber Pimp Colors available, just plain ole black...

@Wirrex how is the new harness for your chair working out so far?

So, I hunted out of the pacseat last night and again this morning. I put my badlands bag with complete saddle setup on the seat and strap it once around. It carries like a dream. I was able to drop the height of the pacseat a good bit. I can see over it when I look behind me now. It’s about nose height to the top.

This morning I only took the seat and my bow because I had to carry a 30lb ar500 steel plate back from the rifle range. I carried it over 1000yds and could hardly tell it was there.

In short: the straps are phenomenal.

I need to silence the screen material. It pops under shifting weight. I am contemplating untying everything and putting vet tape underneath. Any thoughts?

He had a tip on his site or video for the screen material. I forget it off top of my head.

Need pictures of this setup carrying your saddle gears please sir.

Also, are you sure it is the screen making the noise and not the bolts/washers/nuts? Mine was coming from the bolts. I put acorn oil on them and voila! No more squeak.

I believe it was the screen but I could be wrong.

Here’s a pic:

I’m all but done with designing a replacement seat for mine. I’m just going to replace all the screen material with either Cordova or some other heavy canvas fabric. Cut it into an appropriate size rectangle, sew binding to all the edges, and install grommets on both ends. Then run the cordage as normal. One could even sew in a fleece topper with some foam/insulation in it if desired. I really don’t care for a $300 seat with shade screen on it for the seat and back.
