What did you do today?

Dad duty the past two days with my wife working from home because of an ice storm. I did order some Mussachia broadheads. Not that I needed any more broadheads but they seem like a good deal and have the Muzzy lineage working for them. Sorting through my hunting stuff and seeing what I want to purge before next season. Probably going to work on better organization of my hunting gear and my garage in general over the winter. Plus it gives me an excuse to be out there.

Going to see if I can borrow my brother in law's snowmobile to break some trails to help the deer up on one of the properties I hunt. I have game trail cameras up there too and its a good way to still inventory the herd post season.

The snowmobile plan didn't pan out after all. I guess I'll have to snowshoe some trails for them.

Upgraded the suspension on mu camping hammock, did a few mods on my ham radio and generally trying to will the snow to melt.
You should get out chaga hunting....that way I have a triple excuse to scout, climb, and get some value. I have people who'll buy it from me, and since I've started dring chaga tea I really enjoy it, but its expensive to buy online!

Working from home so I can dog sit my newest tail amputee. The wife caught his tail in the door just over a week or so ago. The vet thought it was 50/50 whether the tip of the tail would make it. Friday morning the dog settled the decision, he removed the bandages and ate off the damaged portion of the tail while we were at work. Yesterday he went to the vet and had his tail shortened by about 5 inches.

Funny thing is I caught the tail of the dog on the left in the picture in a door on New Years Day several years ago resulting in him losing about the same amount of tail. Must be a thing about Holiday timing. Now we've got two stubby tailed labs running around.

We're going to have to be extra careful with the third one around holidays now.

Wow, nothin' like being a long-tailed cat in a room for of rockers!!! Are these car doors or house doors the tails get caught in??

House. The first one was the French door out to the deck. I just swung it sort of closed because it was cold outside when I let them out and I think he caught his tail in there, pinched it and then pulled the door tighter on it as he tried to pull it out. The second was the door into the garage. The wife was juggling her lunchbox, mail and purse as the dogs were running around her happy to see her when she got home. She swung the door shut with her foot and caught the tail.

one of my goals for 2022 is to ground hunt with my bow. I have never really attempted this but I have a good number of spots where it'll be perfect since there isn't any great trees to climb. I have a ghillie suit that I am starting to cut some of the material off for string clearance. I try and find one new thing each season to try. This helps me become more versatile and brings a new element of excitement to each year.

I worry about that with our dog, but usually she ends up on the good side of the equation with one of us getting injured instead! Looks like your pooch's are doing just fine now. Funny how they kind of figure out their own way of dealing with things too.

My brother came over today and we eye splice double braid rope for rappel and linemans.
We are going to get Dano double steps to convert his mini stiks.

Showed somed cousins of mine the wonders of saddle hunting and 2TC....then climbed 37' up to get some Chaga, only to discover it was some other deformation in the Birch tree.....then tested some new 1TC and 2TC ideas...

Not out there yet but in about 2 hours I'll be up in the saddle looking for some tree rats. Wanted to practice some 2TC today again and weather is looking great for some time spent in the woods doing a little squirrel hunting. Hoping for a post in the Cooking section later today!
