    Satori Riser Color Change

I ordered the Buckskin color, for my Hoyt Satori 19" riser, but the seller sent a Black one. I hunted with it for a year, but still wish I had the Buckskin colored model. I've camo painted things in the past, so I purchased some Rustoleum paint in a few different colors. I taped off...

    Mud Scraping Tool?

The farmers here in Ohio, like to do their fall plowing and it makes for a difficult trek across a muddy field. Often I'll end up with 5 lbs. of mud caked to the bottom and edges of my boots. Then it gets transferred to my tree stand, climbing sticks, etc. :( I had thought of a large...

Elite Ritual + Magnus Killer Bee = Buck Down!

I quickly grabbed my Elite Ritual, when I seen a big bodied deer to my left and as soon as I did....that's when I noticed the antlers with those funky brows. :) I immediately decided to take the shot, when he got parallel to my left side. I came to full draw and that's when he looked up at me...

    Dump Pouches vs. Dump Bags

I've been running Dump Pouches and the only thing I don't like about them is how much they stick out and scrape on the tree, making too much noise. I was thinking that a Dump Bag would be made out of softer material, wouldn't stick out as far and would still get the job done. :)...

    Anyone Shoot 600+ Arrow Weight?

My setup is with an Elite Ritual 30, that's 57# at a 29" DL. I use Gold Tip Hunter XT 300 spine, at 27", 100 gr. brass insert, 150 gr. tip weight and 3" feathers. TAW 525 and a 22% FOC. I have perfect arrow flight out to 50 yards with all fixed blade broadheads. My broadhead preference is...

    Photogenic Doe

This morning I witnessed the first "rut" activity out of the deer, so far. I watched a buck following a doe for most of the morning. She never brought him close enough for a shot, but she came close enough to smell her breath. :) I snapped a couple of photos at 6 yards.

    Back Support Band Mods

I ordered a Back Support Band off of Amazon and the first time I used it, it sorta collapsed. It's built sturdy, but it needed some rigidity to it. So, I cut a piece of a foam seat at the same length and width of the band and put a thermal sock over the whole thing. That sorta worked, but the...

    Matthew Perry found Dead

Long time actor on the series, Friends, Matthew Perry, played the part of Chandler Bing. He was found dead in his hot tub. News reports say it may be a while before a cause of death will be determined. No illegal drugs or alcohol are suspected, nor any foul play. Prescription medications...

Rappelling Method increases Sterling FCX sales 95%

After watching the video from NY Saddle Hunter, on YouTube, apparently I wasn't the only one. I called an ordered the Sterling FCX rappel device, one of the 2 devices they were demonstrating. The other one is the F4, which operates just the opposite of the Sterling FCX. Fire Penny is the website...

How's the Pre-Rut going in Your Area?

In the last week there have been multiple scrapes put down by bucks in the area. :) All of them with licking branches and a few of the branches had double scrapes. It's definitely starting here in Ohio. I had fun calling this little guy from 80 yards to within 17 yards with a can call. ;) It...

Climber Platform and Tree Saddle Combo

I like the simplicity of a climber, but prefer my Mission platform, Muddy climbing sticks and Cruzr tree saddle for hunting with my traditional bows. I've hunted out of my Summit Viper and have been working around the safety rail. I broke down and purchased a Summit Open Shot and...

Summit Open Shot converted to a "sit and climb"

I've not liked how this stand climbs since I purchased it. :( I read where someone added a piece of rope to the hand climber to make it a "sit & climb". This got me to thinking of how I could make something more comfortable than a single piece of rope. I have an extra safety strap for a tree...

Ito Rocky Climbing Stop Descender Rappelling

Has anyone used this device, instead of a Madrock or other similar rappel devices? What's your opinion and experiences with this device...

    First Kill with my Satori

I'll start by saying I don't like how this played out, but it is done. I had a doe come in to 10 yards and I took a broadside shot, but it hit her high enough in the shoulder to break her spine. She dropped and I quickly followed up with a second shot, while she was spinning around...

    Simmons Safari Shark

I placed an order for a package of Simmons Safari Sharks and they arrived today. :) I'll do a little honing on the edges with a leather strop and they should be good to go.

    What's Your Hunting Arrow Setup?

I'll be hunting with my Satori 19" riser and Uukha Gobi short 45# limbs, this year. :) My hunting arrow setup is a Gold Tip Traditional 500 spine with 4" (banana cut) turkey feathers (cut off of a Tom I shot this spring), 29" length with a TAW of 540 gr. and 23% FOC. My broadhead choice will be...

    Mission/Wild Edge Combo

I've found that using 1 of the Wild Edge steps on the backside of the tree, opposite of the Mission platform, gives me the ability to move all the way around the tree with ease. :) This setup is at ground level for demo purposes.

    Tree Saddle Suspenders!!!

Quite often I see the tree saddle manufacturers charging a premium for their accessories. I've saved a lot of money by buying quality climbing rated gear, from Amazon and R.E.I. :) I noticed a few guys wearing suspenders with their tree saddle to hold it in place, without having to...

    Tree Saddle Hunter Magazine!!!

I was wondering thru Walmart and happen to glance at the magazines, when one of the magazine titles jumped out at me. :) Tree Saddle Hunter, Volume #1, NO. 1....apparently I found the very first issue. I may have to get a subscription to this one!

    Wind Indicator Feather

While I was cutting, trimming, etc. with my turkey flight feathers, I ran across some of the tail feathers that I'd saved. I thought they sure are pretty, but not strong as flight feathers for use on arrows. :) Then I remembered seeing "wind indicator" feathers tied to a traditional bow, for...
