5.5lb climbing, platforming, & descending package - Solo Scout

I’ve been using the solo scout 1-stick climbing for my last few hunts and I’m really liking it.

One refinement I made to the system was to put a 12” nite ize gear tie on my tether just before the loop you wrap around the tree. I use this gear tie to hold the solo scout up while I fasten the strap around the tree. That way I can swing to the left of the platform and use both hands to do the strap and not have to keep tension on the strap all the time.
This is brilliant!

How do you tie that stopper knot?
It's called a Celtic sliding knot. @always89y did a set of pictures in one of his threads (think it was called stopper knot or something).

You're a good dude Red. Thanks!

Hi curious what your and others system looks like this far into the season .
Between Scout Solo Climb and “2TC”.
I ask as I have been using a Solo with sewn aider , more than other options and it seems like a happy medium for fit inside a pack systems.
Also have set up one move high where I plan to get aggressive or hunt below canopy.
( ROS / Rappel gear varies based on length of hunt and area hunted.)
This carries very nicely , not that a one stick is too bad, but it is just enough of a PITA where it encourages me to go where deer are instead of climbing a tree.

Can you share a picture of your solo scout build? Did you make it yourself?

To be honest, I've been out four times this season and I've used a mix of climbing methods each time. I haven't been above 15ft during those 4 outings. Climbed 2TC twice and once with platform and two step aider. Today I brought a stick with me and used that for the first leg and then my platform and aider. Think I go with whatever the situation calls for.

Edit: Today's setup...

Your vagueness around “platform” is intriguing…

Thanks good stuff. You’re getting pretty efficient for 4 times !
glad to see you are out with the recurve.
I had suspected 2TC was influenced by off season banter and most move to proven methods.

I'm a huge proponent for 2TC but admittedly didn't do a climb with it this year due to having presets for SRT. However, I did use 2TC on several of my sits because I didn't like how I had my platform positioned (too high/low, too left/right) and used it to reposition the platform without having to switch back and forth between my rappel rope. Also used it one time to climb down a few feet to cut a branch that was giving me problems.

Oh no... 2TC Definitely has its place and if I were climbing higher, I'd solely do it that way. Recently though I've only been going up about 7' (feet height) and using a timber hitch to secure my platform.

Today I knew I'd be hunting from about 12' and only had a 400yd walk from the car so I took a stick with me.

Anyone still climbing this way with solo scout? Trying to find a workhorse/kit but not having luck
