Pacseat mods: Putting the 'pack' in Pacseat, & other things

I’m all but done with designing a replacement seat for mine. I’m just going to replace all the screen material with either Cordova or some other heavy canvas fabric. Cut it into an appropriate size rectangle, sew binding to all the edges, and install grommets on both ends. Then run the cordage as normal. One could even sew in a fleece topper with some foam/insulation in it if desired. I really don’t care for a $300 seat with shade screen on it for the seat and back.
I don't understand what is going on. Mine is dead quite.

I don’t either. Mine is very loud. So bad that I won’t hunt from it. I pitched the paperwork that came with the seat explaining how to silence it. I thought it said something about oil. Anyone still have theirs?

Yeah I don't have my instructions, but some oil (I used acorn) on the bolts/washers/nuts may do the trick.

I think it is a wax. I think I have mine somewhere. I’ll look it up. As for the shade Material popping. Loosen the cordage a bit and it should stop.

He say's to use a furniture spray wax, I assume that's like Pledge, Sprayed directly onto the mesh at the frame contacts. It will work into the fabric to quiet it. So far mine is really quiet. Only the heavy breathing when they walk by......... He also said to oil the joint of the leg at the frame.

I haven’t had noise issues. I just think a different fabric would suit me better. Maybe some heavyweight fleece

Thank you very much!

I actually like the mesh a lot but mine is so loud I would easily be busted when the mesh slides. I can’t believe I’m the only one with this problem. I’m getting it from both the back rest and the seat rails. I’m not sure how I want to fix it yet.

How is it loud like when you’re sitting on it and sliding across it or when carrying/ deploying. I’m looking at mine right now and sitting in it and I can’t get it to make any noise. If I forget to move the pack straps back around when sitting in it my back can cause the strap to rub against the mesh making some modest noise but I always flip the pack straps around to the back when sitting in it. I think @Petrichor may be right it may be a tensioning issue?

it’s the mesh material moving on the frame. When tension changes and the material has to move it pops loudly. I would agree the back could be too tight but the bottom seat is only made tight by body weight and that is doing the same thing.

I would post a pic of the instructions but can't post pics. Try the spray furniture wax right through the mesh at the bars as per the instructions....

If I sit very quickly and just plop down I can make mine pop but it’s not very loud. If I ease into the seat as if I’m move slowly like I would when hunting the seat is quiet. Just give David a call. I’m sure he will be able to solve your issue.
